Final Fantasy XIV PS5 Open Beta: How to Participate

Square Enix announced today, on Final Fantasy XIV’s official site, that the open beta test for the PS5 version of the award-winning MMORPG will launch on Tuesday, April 13th, together with the release of the game’s newest patch.

The new version of Final Fantasy XIV will let console players experience the game in a new way, making use of the new mechanics of the PS5, like its 3D audio, and haptic feedback.

Not only that, but players will be able to experience the game in true 4K and with faster loading times.

How to Take Part in the Open Beta

According to the tiles official site, those that already own a digital copy of the game on the PlayStation 4, will be able to access the beta on their PS5, by accessing the ”PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version) Icon” at their library.

Those that own a physical version will need to find the  “FINAL FANTASY XIV PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version)” icon on the PS Store and download the content.

On the other hand, if you don’t have the game, and plan to test it out for the first time, you will be able to play the beta by selecting the ”FINAL FANTASY XIV Free Trial” option and downloading the game on your PS5.

According to the game’s developers, players that are currently playing the PlayStation 4 version of the title will be able to use their in-game data during the test, and all their progress will be kept after its conclusion.

Final Fantasy XIV Online, first released as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, is a relaunched version of the fourteenth installment of the Final Fantasy franchise, and its third MMORPG. The version fixed the shortcomings of its predecessor and became one of the most played, and acclaimed titles of the last decade.

You can play Final Fantasy XIV right now on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, via backward compatibility, as well as on PC, and Mac, via Steam.
