The FFXIV Digital Fanfest 2021 gave fans and newcomers alike tons of needed information regarding the newest expansion: Endwalker, and the road leading up to it. While it may not have been another trailer for hype endgame content, the announcement of a FFXIV Oceania Data Center was a very welcome one. Yoshi-P himself in the event cited the high amounts of lag players in the region would face, having to connect to either the Japanese or North American Data Centers. It will launch with the update 6.0.

This helps in more than one way, though. Aside from just lowering lag, a new Data Center will inherently filter some of the traffic off the other Data Centers with players going to the one that now fits them best. Additionally, even if the Japanese Data Center was the closest, that also adds more potential language barriers between players. Anything that lets more players interact with as little strain as possible will help, so a home for these players is certainly appreciated.

The reveal of the new Oceania Data Center was the last major reveal of the Keynote Address, and the whole event is certainly worth watching if one is interested in the game. Aside from the aforementioned Job and release date reveals, new information shown was a new playable race, many story details, and some of the new environments.
