Fortnite Gem Sprites arrive on August 6, 2026, with eight new variants appearing across the island, inside Sprite Chests and within the Mogul Vault. Players can collect Gem versions of Water, Earth, Demon, Duck, Aura, Punk, Zero Point and Grim during the latest New Sprite Day update.
Each of the new Fortnite Gem Sprites provides a useful gameplay effect alongside its collectible appearance. Carrying one reduces fall damage by 30 percent, which can help players survive drops from mountains, buildings, cliffs and player-built structures.
Players must still successfully extract a Sprite before it is permanently added to their collection. Simply finding or carrying one during a match will not complete the collection entry if the player is eliminated before extracting it.
All Fortnite Gem Sprites locations
The eight new Fortnite Gem Sprites are spread across several different environments and loot sources. Some can be targeted by landing in a particular biome, while others rely on rare drops from special chests.
| Sprite | Location |
|---|---|
| Gem Water Sprite | Rivers, beaches and waterside areas |
| Gem Earth Sprite | Forests and wooded areas |
| Gem Demon Sprite | Rare drop from Sprite Chests |
| Gem Duck Sprite | Inside the Mogul Vault |
| Gem Aura Sprite | Mountains and elevated areas |
| Gem Punk Sprite | Rare drop from Sprite Chests |
| Gem Zero Point Sprite | Sprite Chests and Relic Chests |
| Gem Grim Sprite | Rare drop from Sprite Chests |
Gem Water, Gem Earth and Gem Aura should be easier to target because their spawns are connected to clear environmental locations. The remaining Fortnite Gem Sprites may require players to open special chests or enter the Mogul Vault.

Where to find the Gem Water Sprite
The Gem Water Sprite can be found around rivers, beaches and other areas close to water. Players hunting Fortnite Gem Sprites should choose a landing route containing several waterside locations rather than searching one small section of the map.
Following a river can provide multiple chances to locate the Gem Water Sprite during the same match. Coastal areas may also contain several potential spawns, although popular beaches could become crowded immediately after the update.
The Gem Water Sprite should be one of the more straightforward Fortnite Gem Sprites to locate because it is not restricted to a rare chest drop. Once it appears, players should collect it and prioritise extraction rather than risking the new discovery in unnecessary fights.
Where to find the Gem Earth Sprite
The Gem Earth Sprite appears in forests and wooded parts of the Fortnite map. Large forests provide the best chance of finding this variant because they contain more potential Sprite spawning areas than isolated groups of trees.
Players can search along the edges of forests before moving towards the centre. This creates a safer escape route if another player arrives and makes it easier to continue towards another location if the Sprite does not appear.
Like Gem Water, Gem Earth is one of the Fortnite Gem Sprites that can be targeted through a specific environment. Players do not need to rely entirely on opening Sprite Chests and hoping for a rare drop.
Where to find the Gem Aura Sprite
The Gem Aura Sprite can appear in mountainous regions and other elevated sections of the island. These areas may be dangerous because players searching for Fortnite Gem Sprites can be spotted from lower ground or attacked while climbing.
Landing directly on high terrain may allow players to begin searching before nearby opponents arrive. However, collecting weapons, shields and healing items first may be safer if the mountainous location is likely to attract several players.
The 30 percent fall damage reduction offered by Fortnite Gem Sprites is particularly useful around these locations. It will not completely prevent fall damage, but it may help players survive an accidental drop or an enemy attack that sends them from high ground.
Where to find the Gem Duck Sprite
The Gem Duck Sprite is found inside the Mogul Vault. Unlike the environment-based Fortnite Gem Sprites, this variant requires players to reach a specific secured location and gain access to the vault during the match.
Players targeting Gem Duck should plan their landing route around the Mogul Vault instead of searching normal Sprite locations. Vault areas may attract several opponents, so arriving without weapons or shields could make collecting the Sprite difficult.
Once the vault has been opened, players should check carefully for Gem Duck and extract it as quickly as possible. Reaching the vault again may require repeating the same process during another match if the player is eliminated before extraction.
Rarest Fortnite Gem Sprites
Gem Demon, Gem Punk, Gem Zero Point and Gem Grim are likely to be the rarest Fortnite Gem Sprites. These variants are obtained through random drops rather than guaranteed environmental locations.
Gem Demon, Gem Punk and Gem Grim can appear as rare rewards from Sprite Chests. Opening a Sprite Chest does not guarantee one of these variants, meaning players may need to search several chests across multiple matches.
Gem Zero Point can appear in both Sprite Chests and Relic Chests. The additional loot source provides another opportunity to obtain it, although it may still take several attempts before the correct variant appears.
The best way to search for chest-exclusive Fortnite Gem Sprites is to create a repeatable route that includes several Sprite Chest locations. Players can land nearby, gather basic equipment and move between each chest before extracting any new variant they find.
What do Fortnite Gem Sprites do?
Fortnite Gem Sprites reduce fall damage by 30 percent while carried. This passive effect can be useful during fights involving cliffs, mountains, tall buildings and other high-ground positions.
A player knocked from a structure may still receive damage, but the reduction could prevent the fall from becoming fatal. The effect may also allow players to escape from elevated areas more safely when the storm or another team cuts off the normal route down.
Fortnite Gem Sprites do not provide complete immunity to fall damage. Extremely large drops can still eliminate a player, particularly when they have already lost health during a fight.
The variants also contribute to the permanent Sprite collection. Players must find, carry and extract the Sprite successfully before the corresponding entry is unlocked.

Gem Sprite Power Hours
Players who do not complete the collection on August 6 will have another chance during Gem-focused Power Hours on Saturday, August 8. The boosted event should make Fortnite Gem Sprites easier to encounter than during normal matches.
Power Hours will be particularly useful for anyone missing Gem Demon, Gem Punk, Gem Zero Point or Gem Grim. These chest-based variants may take longer to obtain because their appearances depend on random loot.
Other Sprites remain in the available pool during New Sprite Day, so players may encounter existing variants while searching. The boosted Gem event should narrow the hunt and provide a better opportunity to finish the set.
How many Fortnite Gem Sprites are there?
Eight Fortnite Gem Sprites enter the regular Sprite pool on August 6. These are Gem Water, Gem Earth, Gem Demon, Gem Duck, Gem Aura, Gem Punk, Gem Zero Point and Gem Grim.
Gem Llama appeared separately before the main August 6 release, which means players may see more Gem entries in the wider collection. Ironmouse also returned before the update but is a separate special Sprite rather than one of the eight new Gem variants.
Completing the collection requires players to search water, forests, mountains, the Mogul Vault, Sprite Chests and Relic Chests. The environmental variants can be deliberately targeted, while the rare chest drops may require patience and several matches.
