Fortnite Captain X skin quests unlock the Captain X Outfit after 24 completed Treasure Hunters weekly quests. You also need the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass to claim the Outfit. Opening 24 chests, finishing One Piece Episodes or collecting Sprites won’t replace those weekly quests.
Treasure Hunters launched on 1 November 2026. You can begin making progress now, but the full set of challenges hasn’t been released. Here’s what counts, which launch quests to complete first and how the reward milestones work.
Fortnite Captain X skin quests: how to get Captain X
Open Quests from the Fortnite lobby and select This Week. Finish the weekly objectives shown there. Every completed weekly challenge adds one to your Captain X milestone total, and the final Outfit reward requires 24 completions. Check the Battle Pass reward screen to see your current milestone.

Your progress on Fortnite Captain X skin quests comes from completed challenges, not matches won or Battle Pass levels earned. You can finish more than one weekly quest in a single match, provided each objective’s conditions are met.

All four launch weekly quests
The first four weekly challenges are worth 20,000 XP each. Finish all four and you’ll reach the first Captain X milestone.
| Quest | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Consume a Devil Fruit | Consume one Devil Fruit. |
| Rift service or Specialist | Use a Rift service or hire a Specialist in two different matches. |
| Sprite Wanted Posters | Dig up and open three Sprite Chests using Wanted Posters. |
| Loaded cannon | Fire a cannon loaded with a cannonball or a player. |
The second challenge specifically requires different matches, so doing both actions in one game won’t finish it. For Sprite Chests, take a Wanted Poster, follow the treasure map and open the chest you dig up. Simply picking up a map doesn’t complete the objective.
Once all four launch challenges have been completed, you have reached the first Captain X milestone. The next batch of Fortnite Captain X skin quests gives you more opportunities to work towards the 8-quest, 12-quest and later rewards.
Fortnite Captain X skin quests: reward milestones
| Weekly quests | Reward |
|---|---|
| 4 | The Treasure Hunt Begins Loading Screen |
| 8 | Banner Icon |
| 12 | He Who Sees All Treasure Spray |
| 14 | Rogue Wave and Tidecutter Back Bling |
| 18 | Unrevealed reward |
| 20 | Unrevealed reward |
| 24 | Captain X Outfit |
The Outfit is the last milestone, not the reward for finishing the opening set. Two rewards further along the track have not yet been revealed. For the item-by-item breakdown, see our Fortnite Captain X rewards guide.
Do Fortnite Captain X skin quests require the Battle Pass?
Yes. The Outfit belongs to the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass. Completing the required weekly challenges doesn’t turn it into a free Outfit for accounts without the pass. Check your Battle Pass ownership and the reward tile before trying to claim it.
Buying the pass also doesn’t skip the weekly challenges. You still need all 24 weekly quest completions to unlock the Outfit. Pirate Shop Access and the treasure chests scattered across Crossbones Isle have their own reward system.
When can you complete 24 weekly quests?
Not on 2 November. The launch set includes four weeklies, and new challenges will be added through November. The Quests tab shows the weekly challenges currently available and the countdown to the next batch.
Don’t confuse those weekly quests with Epic’s Captain’s Days on 1, 7, 12, 14 and 21 November. Captain’s Days add weapons, Sprites and island changes; they are a different schedule from the weekly challenge list.
Epic has announced a Chapter 7 end event on 5 December 2026. Keep claiming Captain X rewards as they unlock. The event date alone isn’t an exact reward claim time.
Why aren’t Fortnite Captain X skin quests counting?
Check which challenge group you’re completing. One Piece Episodes, Sprite Mastery and Treasure Hunt chest objectives have separate rewards, so don’t expect every completed task to raise your Captain X weekly total.
If one of the Fortnite Captain X skin quests is still incomplete, read its full requirement. The Rift or Specialist task spans two matches, while the Wanted Poster task requires three opened Sprite Chests. Check the counter after each action to see what registered.
Once you’ve cleared the currently available weekly quests, you’ve done everything you can towards the next milestone until more arrive. There isn’t a hidden NPC, secret chest or extra purchase that lets you finish 24 weeklies early.
