ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes: Research Lab 3 and Control Room Guide

ARC Raiders Frozen Trail

ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes takes you into the abandoned medical facilities and subway tunnels of Stella Montis. Celeste needs you to scan a working android, locate a specific patient in Research Lab 3, then retrieve security footage from a Control Room. These aren’t difficult interactions, but getting between the right floors can take longer than the objectives themselves.

The fastest way through is to start at Medical Research for both android scans, then go down to the Western Tunnels. You won’t need to craft a special tool or find a locked-room key for this mission, and completed objectives can carry over if you don’t manage everything in one raid.

How to start ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes

ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes becomes available from Celeste in Speranza after you complete and turn in Home to Roost for Shani. Accept Celeste’s quest, track it and deploy to Stella Montis. You won’t find these objectives on Blue Gate or the new Pendola Pass map.

The quest has three objectives, which you should complete in order. The first can be performed on any suitable android on Stella Montis, while the second and third require specific rooms.

  1. Scan any active Android on Stella Montis.
  2. Scan the Android in Research Lab 3 in the Medical Bay.
  3. Reach the Western Tunnels Control Room and retrieve security footage.
  4. Extract and speak with Celeste to turn in the quest.

Where to scan the first Android in ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes

Head towards Medical Research on the western side of Stella Montis. You can scan androids elsewhere, but starting here makes sense because your second objective is in the same facility. Search the main research room and its adjoining corridors for an android that still shows signs of power.

Look closely at its eyes. An active android has a flickering blue light, and approaching it brings up the Scan Android prompt. Many machines lying on the floor are completely shut down and can’t be scanned. If there’s no prompt, move to another android instead of wasting time on a dead one.

Where is Research Lab 3 in ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes?

After your first scan, stay in the Medical Research area and head to the upper floor. There’s a yellow ladder in the main research space that can take you up. Look for Research Lab 3 in the southern section of the upper floor, rather than searching every treatment room on the ground level.

Inside, the android you need is lying on a medical bed or stretcher. Approach the bed and use the interaction prompt to scan it. This is a specific quest target, so a second random android scan elsewhere won’t count. Wait until the tracker changes to the Western Tunnels objective before leaving.

How to find the Western Tunnels Control Room

The last part of ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes happens below the main Stella Montis complex. Travel towards the Western Tunnels in the northwest of the map, near the Loading Bay and Lobby Metro Station. Both areas provide access to the lower railway level.

From the Loading Bay, head down to the tracks and follow the Western Tunnels markers. From Lobby Metro Station, descend to the railway and follow it towards the same area. The Control Room is a small lit side room off the underground tracks. It isn’t back in Medical Research, so you can leave that building once both Android objectives are complete.

Inside the Control Room, look for the subway control console with the Retrieve Security Footage interaction. Using that console completes the evidence objective. Other loot on the desks is optional and doesn’t replace the recording. If the room is busy, clear the immediate danger before using the terminal.

ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes rewards

Once you’ve retrieved the recordings, extract and return to Celeste in Speranza. The quest awards 5,000 XP, one Stella Montis Medical Storage Key, three Herbal Bandages and two Shield Rechargers. The storage key is particularly useful because it provides access to a locked medical storage area on Stella Montis.

Reward Quantity
XP 5,000
Stella Montis Medical Storage Key 1
Herbal Bandage 3
Shield Recharger 2

Completing ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes also leads into Empathetic Prototypes, a follow-up quest associated with Lance. You can keep the Medical Storage Key for a future visit rather than returning immediately to the same tunnels. Make sure the mission has actually been handed in before checking the next step of the quest chain.

ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes not working: common mistakes

If the first scan doesn’t count, check the android’s blue eye light. Not every machine on Stella Montis is still active. A powered-down android with no scan prompt won’t work. You can find another around Medical Research without travelling across the map.

If you’re stuck on the second scan, confirm that you’ve reached Research Lab 3 on the upper floor and that you’re using the android lying on the bed. The quest won’t advance just because you enter the building or scan another android in the corridor.

If you reach the Western Tunnels and can’t find the evidence, descend all the way to the railway level. The Control Room is a small room beside the tracks, and its subway console has the footage prompt. There is no special key to find for this task, unlike the Confiscation Room in Home to Roost.

Can you finish ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes across several raids?

Yes. The completed objectives can carry across raids, so you can handle the Android scans first and return later for the Control Room. Check the active objective before redeploying rather than retracing the entire route. You still need to get back to Speranza and speak with Celeste to receive the rewards.

For the cleanest ARC Raiders Someone Else’s Shoes run, begin at Medical Research, find an active android, climb to Research Lab 3 and scan the patient on the bed. Then head underground through Loading Bay or Lobby Metro Station, retrieve the footage and extract. You can focus on other Frozen Trail quests after the hand-in.
