ARC Raiders Clean Hands still has a potential softlock in Update 2.2.0: Embark says losing or selling a required quest item such as the Equatorial Sundial can leave the quest impossible to complete. Keep the Sundial in your inventory through the church objective and extraction; don’t sell it in Speranza.
The risky part of ARC Raiders Clean Hands is carrying the Sundial through several exposed areas in one run. Put it in your Safe Pocket as soon as you collect it, clear the church objective before heading for extraction, and avoid turning the quest into a loot run once the final step is ready.
ARC Raiders Clean Hands: Equatorial Sundial missing after Update 2.2.0
Embark has listed missing or sold quest items as an unresolved issue in its October 20 patch notes. That specifically includes the Equatorial Sundial needed for Clean Hands. If you’ve already lost it and the objective doesn’t offer a replacement, the developer has not confirmed a reliable item-restoration or quest-reset method.
If you’re still doing the quest, collect the Sundial from its normal Nomad Camp location, complete the Old Town church objective and extract with the item. Keep it until the quest is handed in. For players already stuck, report the quest state to Embark and keep an eye on the known-issues list; buying random items or repeating the run isn’t an official fix.
For the full developer breakdown, see Embark’s Update 2.2.0 patch notes. The earlier route and rewards below remain useful unless the quest tracker shows a different requirement.
ARC Raiders Clean Hands: full quest steps

- Deploy into Pendola Pass with ARC Raiders Clean Hands active.
- Reach the Nomad Camp underneath the Railyard.
- Search the highlighted bag inside the camp for the Equatorial Sundial.
- Put the Sundial in your Safe Pocket.
- Travel to the church in Old Town and climb to the top of its tower.
- Use the Sundial at the marked railing to collect the required reading.
- Keep the Sundial with you and extract from Pendola Pass.
- Return to the Nomadic Envoy in Speranza and hand the item in.
Those objectives need to be completed in order. The Sundial stays with you after the church interaction, so reaching the tower is not the end of ARC Raiders Clean Hands. You still need to get off the map with it safely.
Where is the Nomad Camp under the Railyard?
The Nomad Camp is hidden below the Railyard on Pendola Pass. Approach from the western side, between the Railyard and Transit Tunnel, and look for the pipe entrance leading underneath the main location.
Once you are inside, climb onto the central walkway rather than searching only at ground level. The ARC Raiders Clean Hands objective updates when you reach the correct camp area, and the item you need is inside a yellow-highlighted bag on the walkway.
Where is the Equatorial Sundial in ARC Raiders Clean Hands?
The Equatorial Sundial is the “polluted item” mentioned by the quest tracker. Search the highlighted bag in the Nomad Camp and the Sundial drops as a quest item. Pick it up immediately and move it into your Safe Pocket if you have the slot available.
Protecting the Sundial matters because ARC Raiders Clean Hands continues all the way to extraction. If you lose the item before you leave Pendola Pass, you will not be able to complete the delivery step back in Speranza.
How to reach the Old Town church tower

After collecting the Sundial, head east to Old Town. The church sits around the centre of the area and has a tall tower that stands above the surrounding buildings.
- Enter the church and find the spiral staircase.
- Follow the stairs upward until you reach the vertical zipline.
- Ride the zipline into the upper tower.
- Step onto the balcony and move to the marked railing.
- Interact while carrying the Equatorial Sundial to complete the reading.
The Sundial stays with you after the church interaction. Once the reading finishes, ARC Raiders Clean Hands updates to the delivery stage and the item remains in your inventory for extraction.
How to extract with the Equatorial Sundial
Pendola Pass uses Gondola extraction. Find an available extraction console or radio beacon on your map, activate it, then move to the Gondola arrival point and board when it is ready.
Check your inventory before leaving Old Town and make sure the Sundial is still protected. Once the church step is complete, there is little reason to take extra fights or detour through high-risk loot areas unless you are comfortable risking the run.
ARC Raiders Clean Hands rewards
Current live quest listings give the ARC Raiders Clean Hands rewards as 5,000 XP, one Sextant, one Shield Recharger and one Battered Paperback. The Battered Paperback is useful for Research Workbench progression, so check what you need before selling or discarding it.
| Reward | Quantity |
|---|---|
| XP | 5,000 |
| Sextant | 1 |
| Shield Recharger | 1 |
| Battered Paperback | 1 |
ARC Raiders Clean Hands not progressing
If the quest does not update at the Nomad Camp, make sure you have climbed onto the walkway and searched the highlighted bag rather than only entering the underground area. At the church, move around the upper balcony railing until the Sundial interaction appears.
If ARC Raiders Clean Hands still shows the church step after you have reached the tower, repeat the railing interaction and wait for the objective to change before calling the Gondola. Extracting too early leaves the reading unfinished even if the Sundial is safely in your pocket.
ARC Raiders Clean Hands quick route
The shortest way to remember ARC Raiders Clean Hands is Railyard, Sundial, Old Town church, extraction. Enter the Nomad Camp through the western pipe, search the yellow bag, climb the church tower and use the Sundial at the railing before leaving Pendola Pass.
Once you are back in Speranza, return the Equatorial Sundial to the Nomadic Envoy to finish the quest and collect the rewards. The Sundial is the item that ties every stage together, so protecting it is more important than squeezing another container into the same run.
