ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: Changes, Choices and Best Builds

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 arrived with the October 8 Frozen Trail update and changed how Raiders choose abilities in every branch. Midpoint nodes now offer an either-or decision, while end-of-branch nodes present three options with a limit on how many you can take. Some familiar stamina and healing skills have also received significant buffs.

Players returning after the update will notice more than a different layout. ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 makes it harder to copy a build blindly, because the skills you choose can close off alternatives until you reset. Here are the confirmed rules, the exact published buffs and the choices worth checking before spending points.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: What Changed?

Frozen Trail replaces the old large nodes at the middle and ends of the skill branches with a different selection system. Embark also reworked underused skills and rearranged some of their positions, making the path to your preferred abilities worth checking again even if you have been playing for months.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: How the New Mid-Branch Skill Choices Work

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 does not let you combine both midpoint skills in the same branch. If your original build used an old large node, inspect its replacement before assigning the points you saved.

At the midpoint of each branch, you now face a choice between two skills on a single path. Selecting one rules out the other for that build. You are not permanently locked into your decision, however: resetting the skill tree lets you choose again and reorganize your points.

This is where planning ahead helps. If you tend to play solo and rely on speed to escape, look at the effects that support your movement and recovery. If you regularly run with friends, consider abilities that help you stay alive long enough to revive or support them. Check the current in-game description before choosing, since Embark expects more tuning as players experiment with the revised system.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: How the End-of-Branch Choices Work

Under ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0, an end-of-branch decision only becomes available after the necessary point investment. You cannot treat the three options as free upgrades that unlock simply by reaching the final row.

At the end of each skill branch are two choice nodes. Once you meet the required skill-point investment, each presents three possible skills, with up to two of those three available to select. That gives you more control than a single capstone but still forces a trade-off.

Think about what your loadout struggles with most rather than automatically chasing the skill that looks strongest on paper. A perk that helps during long trips across the map may be far more valuable for a scavenger than for someone who spends most raids in intense ARC encounters.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: Confirmed Skill Buffs

The October 8 patch notes identify three concrete improvements to existing skills:

  • Fight or Flight: Stamina gained increases by roughly 25% per level.
  • Stubborn Mule: Stamina regeneration values rise by approximately 33%.
  • Back on Your Feet: Healing rises from 30 to 40.

These adjustments are especially noticeable when you are deciding whether to put additional points into stamina or recovery. Fight or Flight and Stubborn Mule now offer more movement value than before, while Back on Your Feet provides a stronger recovery benefit.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: Which ARC Raiders Skill Tree Choices Are Best?

For stamina-heavy characters, ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 increases the value of Fight or Flight and Stubborn Mule. The gains are useful during long runs across Pendola Pass, but they do not eliminate the need to manage exhaustion.

There is no single build that Embark recommends for every Raider. For a movement-focused setup, compare the buffed stamina skills against the new branch options and prioritize the effects you actually activate in a raid. For a support-focused character, pay attention to the recovery benefits and how often your squad needs help after difficult fights.

If you mostly enter Topside to collect resources, think about the entire journey: getting to containers, managing stamina with a full bag and escaping safely. A build that performs beautifully during a short firefight can feel less useful after a long scavenging run. Conversely, players who seek Hydra encounters or contested Frigate loot will usually place greater value on tools that help in sustained danger.

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0: Can You Reset Your ARC Raiders Skill Tree?

ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 also affects supportive players: Back on Your Feet now heals for 40 instead of 30, which makes its recovery benefit more meaningful during difficult team encounters.

Yes. Embark explicitly confirms that a skill-tree reset lets you reconsider the new midpoint choices. That is important because you cannot equip every alternative within a branch at the same time. It also means you can experiment with a movement-oriented build, test how it performs over several raids and switch to a different setup later.

Before resetting, take a look at the nodes you use most often. The placement of some abilities changed in Frozen Trail, so following an older screenshot or copying a pre-update point distribution may send you through a different path than expected.

What Else Changed With Movement in Frozen Trail?

Before resetting ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0, note the abilities you actively use in a raid. You can rebuild afterwards, but checking new node positions helps avoid spending points in a branch that no longer leads to your preferred choice.

The skill-tree rework arrived alongside wider movement adjustments. Frozen Trail adds Scrambling, which allows a short climb up steep slopes while sprinting, and changes some situations involving ladders and slides. The Grappling Hook also opens new routes for climbing, swinging and descending.

These mechanics are separate from skill points, but they influence how a build feels on Pendola Pass. A Raider using the Grappling Hook to reach rooftops may still benefit from stamina-focused skills when running between landmarks or escaping an approaching ARC machine.

Should You Change Your Build After Update 2.0?

The ARC Raiders Skill Tree 2.0 rework is a good reason to revisit your build, especially if you invested heavily in movement or healing before the update. The confirmed buffs offer some immediate options, while the new midpoint and end-branch choices make it possible to shape a character around the raids you actually enjoy.

Start with the skills you rely on, examine the alternatives within your branch and test your choice over a few runs. The new tree is designed around meaningful trade-offs, and a build that suits your habits will be more useful than one copied without considering how you play.
