Bandai Namco’s incredibly popular fighting franchise Tekken is making its Netflix debut with a brand new anime titled “Tekken: Bloodline”.

The Tekken franchise has been around since 1994 and still remains one of the most popular fighting IPs in the world, but it has struggled to make an impact outside of gaming, with the failed live-action adaptation not being well received by both critics and fans.

Hopefully Netflix can turn it around with Tekken: Bloodline, which will follow the story of Jin Kazama from childhood until his battle in The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

Here is what Netflix had to say about Tekken: Bloodline.

“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

No release date for Tekken: Bloodline has been given, but it is expected to release in 2022. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Netflix release an anime or TV show adapted from popular video game franchises, with them previously releasing a Castlevania anime and a live-action Witcher show as well as many others.
