Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food: How to Get and Use It

Adopt Me Halloween 2026 final week Where Bear and Stray Cat Dragon official Uplift Games

Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food is the special Halloween item used to transform the stray cat into the Legendary Stray Cat Dragon. You find it in Crypt coffins, then carry it to the cat near the Carnival entrance and feed it. Once the cat changes, you can buy the dragon for 120,000 Candy Corn.

If you’ve seen people feeding the stray cat since the beginning of Halloween, this is the item that finally reveals the mystery. The important part is that Polymorphing Cat Food unlocks the purchase; it does not give you a free dragon.

How to get Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food

Use the event signpost to travel to the Halloween Crypt and open coffins using Rusty Keys. The food can appear on an earlier floor, so you don’t need to reach the bottom before it can drop. The new cat food is part of the Crypt rewards added for the final week on October 23. You may need to open more than one coffin, because the official notes say where the item comes from but don’t guarantee a particular coffin or exact number of keys before you find it.

You can earn Rusty Keys by completing Halloween daily tasks, with another available through the Ghost Gallery boss. If you’re unfamiliar with the Crypt, our Rusty Keys guide explains the coffin system, the different Crypt levels and the rewards worth collecting while you’re there.

When you find the Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food, keep it in your inventory until you’re ready to feed the cat. It’s a one-use item rather than permanent pet food, and it isn’t tradeable. That makes opening the coffins yourself the way to get it.

Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food
Uplift Games introduced Polymorphing Cat Food with Halloween’s final-week update.

Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food is listed as a Rare Halloween backpack item with one use left and an untradeable label. That makes it easy to distinguish from the normal food players gave the stray earlier in October.

How to use the Polymorphing Cat Food

Once you have the item, use the signpost to travel to the Carnival. The dark stray cat sits on a striped pedestal beside Jester Dragon, near the skull-shaped Carnival entrance. Equip the Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food from the Halloween section of your backpack, then press the interaction prompt on the cat. If you changed servers while holding the food, equip it again before trying. The cat will transform into the Stray Cat Dragon, revealing the final-week Legendary pet purchase.

You need to interact again to adopt it. The dragon costs 120,000 Candy Corn, and feeding the cat doesn’t remove that requirement. If you were hoping the food itself was the reward, that’s where the confusion comes from: the food opens access to the dragon, while Candy Corn pays for it.

If the cat hasn’t changed, check that the food is selected from your backpack and you’re interacting with the cat’s actual pedestal rather than a nearby pet display. Earlier in the event players could feed the cat ordinary items, but the developer specifically calls for this Crypt item to trigger the transformation.

Is Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food tradeable or reusable?

No. The item is untradeable and consumed after one use. It’s tied to this Halloween cat transformation, not a general potion that can change other pets. You can’t use it to transform a pet from your own collection into a different creature, and there isn’t a second confirmed pet unlock for the food.

The Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food also isn’t a shortcut around the pet’s price. Having the item shows you’ve completed the prerequisite, but you still need enough Candy Corn for the purchase. Plan the unlock and the currency farming together so you don’t reach the cat only to find the dragon is out of your budget.

Where to get the Candy Corn for the dragon

While you’re hunting for Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food in the Crypt, take advantage of any Candy Corn rewards from opening coffins. Then head back to the event’s minigames. The Candy Corn guide explains the repeatable farming methods, including Ghost Gallery, daily tasks and other Halloween activities.

The final week also brings back Where Bear?, a round-based game where you collect Candy Corn while playing as Bear, Hunter or Survivor. If you enjoy more structured rounds, Hauntlet 2 and Stitches’ Spotlight are other options while you’re saving. The dragon’s 120,000-Candy-Corn requirement is a fixed cost, not a chance to roll it from a box.

When does Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food leave the game?

The Adopt Me Polymorphing Cat Food was added on October 23 for the final week of the Halloween 2026 event, scheduled to end October 31. Uplift Games hasn’t announced a permanent way to get the food afterwards. If the Stray Cat Dragon is a priority, use the event period to collect keys, find the special food and save the purchase price.

If you’re choosing between expensive Halloween pets, Skelicorn is another 120,000-Candy-Corn Legendary, but it has a different unlock. The two pets don’t share the same special item, and Polymorphing Cat Food works on the Carnival stray specifically.
