Valheim Patch 1.0.21 arrived on 28 October 2026, bringing changed Deep North cooking, Timberwood farming improvements, fixes to five achievements, a smaller Kall Fire Nova damage-over-time effect and platform-specific repairs.
Iron Gate Studio has spread the download across platforms over several days while keeping crossplay working. The changes below cover what matters for crafting, bosses, saves and console players without treating a staggered release as a broken multiplayer update.
Valheim Patch 1.0.21: Release and platform rollout

Iron Gate published the patch on 28 October 2026, but warned that uploads to all platforms would take several days. Crossplay remains functional during that period, so a friend using another console can still join while the different builds are distributed. Check the version number on your own title screen rather than assuming every system updated on the same day.
Food Preparation Table replaces the Cauldron
Three uncooked Deep North foods now use the Food Preparation Table: Unbaked Poteitr, Raw Kale Chips and Oven Pancake Batter. The finished foods still use the Stone Oven. Corrected tooltips explain the change. If a recipe appears to be missing from the Cauldron, inspect the Food Preparation Table instead of farming unrelated ingredients or rebuilding the Cauldron.
Valheim Patch 1.0.21: Timberwood cones and renewable harvesting
Trees in the Deep North now drop Timberwood Cones. The yield changes favour more Timberwood and fewer cones. Iron Gate also says the cones can be planted in more hospitable biomes to grow exceptionally large trees that drop Timberwood. The patch does not promise a fixed cone drop percentage for each tree, so save the cones you receive for future planting.
Kall Fimbulbringer and Nord Greatsword
Kall Fimbulbringer causes less screen shake with some attacks. The ground fire from his Yagluth Aspect Fire Nova deals half the previous damage over time, and his drops no longer fall through the floor. The reduction is not a blanket nerf to every attack. The Nord Greatsword and its variants also stop losing damage per enemy when one blow hits several foes.
Valheim Patch 1.0.21: achievement fixes
Mighty Halls, Comfort Is King, The Homesteader, The Architect and The Survivor no longer depend incorrectly on the active difficulty setting. The Trophy Collector now requires a Troll Trophy. Frost Foundry records the correct crafter in multiplayer, but the associated crafting achievement still follows the network owner: Iron Gate says the full fix needs a later network-incompatible update.
Xbox, PS5, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2
Xbox now handles invalid world and character names that made the Start Game interface disappear. An unnecessary Gamepad association popup is also gone. PlayStation 5 displays a message if its PS5-only option conflicts with joining a crossplay server. Steam fixes desynchronised save-cache state after external world modifications, and Switch 2 restores touch scrolling in achievement details.
Valheim Patch 1.0.21: world and stability fixes
Snow and ash storms no longer blow inside buildings. Deep North stumps stop swaying and vendors can open properly after a cinematic. Fixes also cover double-equipped trinkets, items falling outside inventory, expired No Skill Drain effects reappearing, rare multiplayer crashes, ocean seams, gamepad map filters and overly loud decoration fires. Moose collision and attack reach are adjusted.
Other Deep North and creature tweaks
Wolf spirits can no longer breed. Gammeltroll punches no longer destroy petrified Gammeltrolls. Moose trophies are no longer needed for upgrades to the Deep North mage helmet, while Hood of the Vanguard can be displayed on an item stand. Deep North snow walls and some other world props are easier to break. Players should not mistake these fixes for a separate content expansion.
