Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax are two separate destinations in the new star system coming with the free December 2026 expansion. Perita is a ruined moon with an updated Survival activity, while Fornax is a Sentient ring city controlled by criminal factions.
The easiest way to tell them apart is what you’ll do there. On Perita, you’ll meet the Cleaving Glaive and tackle a revamped Survival mission. On Fornax, MANIFOLD 90-BF serves as a social hub among the ring city’s criminal factions.
Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax: two distinct locations
Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax take you into the Sentient system beyond the Origin System. Perita is a war-damaged moon orbiting Fornax, whose ring-city environment is packed with people and dangerous factions. Their different settings are part of the appeal of Tau’s new Star Chart.
Tau combines a cinematic story with cooperative missions. The contrast between Perita’s ruined landscape and Fornax’s casino and streets gives both sorts of content room to breathe. Digital Extremes intends to keep developing the system after its December introduction.
Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax: what is on Perita?
Perita is a hostile, battered moon whose new Survival mission gives squads a reason to return after the story. It’s a recognisable Warframe activity in an unfamiliar setting. The barren moon also provides a home for the Cleaving Glaive, who search its wasteland for Tau’s secrets.
The Cleaving Glaive are allies, not another gang from Fornax. Digital Extremes describes them scavenging the ruins for information about Tau. Their connection to the moon is confirmed; the developer hasn’t published a full list of Syndicate ranks and rewards in the October overview.
Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax: where is MANIFOLD 90-BF?
MANIFOLD 90-BF is on Fornax. Digital Extremes calls it a social hub where you’ll meet new characters and rivals and explore the city’s history. That hub is not the Survival mission on Perita.
Fornax is a crime-ridden Sentient ring city drenched in black rain. Its slums, docks and casino are controlled by gangs and the Fornax Drowners, with the powerful Hunra overseeing the criminal underworld and the supply of Bloom.
What is the difference between the Cleaving Glaive and the Hunra?
The Cleaving Glaive are an allied Syndicate exploring Perita. The Hunra is a crime boss on Fornax. One side is seeking Tau’s secrets; the other rules the city’s underworld. They’re not two names for the same faction.
If the new missions interest you most, Perita is the place to watch. Fornax has a different attraction: Brysko’s detective story, the Hunra’s criminal network and a busy city hub. Both destinations are part of the same expansion, but neither is just a renamed version of the other.
Is the Portau card game in Fornax?
Yes. Portau is a card game played in Fornax’s casino, with suits named Blooms, Cores, Moons and Suns. It’s one of the ways Digital Extremes is giving the Sentient city a life beyond the combat encounters.
Brysko’s detective storyline also takes players into the Fornax criminal underworld. Our Brysko guide explains his connection with the city, his Hound companion and the two confirmed ways to unlock the new Warframe.
Do Perita and Fornax unlock at the same time?
Both destinations arrive in the free December 2026 update. Their locations and headline activities were confirmed at Devstream 198, while the full in-game progression will be experienced at launch. The October announcement doesn’t give a precise order for opening every new mission node.
Our Tau release date guide covers the scheduled launch window. The Tau Prologue guide covers existing story preparation, so you can catch up before exploring the new system.
What else is coming to Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax?
Perita brings a new Survival setting and an allied Syndicate; Fornax introduces MANIFOLD 90-BF, the Drowners and the Hunra’s influence over the city. Together, they establish the first two destinations on a Tau Star Chart that Digital Extremes plans to expand in later updates.
For Warframe Tau Perita and Fornax, the simplest route through the reveals is to remember Perita for Survival and the Cleaving Glaive, and Fornax for the ring city and MANIFOLD 90-BF. Our linked Brysko and Tau release guides cover the story and December launch alongside them.
