ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast takes you inside the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass. Embark’s October 20 Update 2.2.0 repairs an optional objective that previously checked for the wrong item. Embark’s fix applies to the optional Emperor Gateway Conduit acquisition check. The dungeon’s separate Legendary Emperor Modulator requirement is unchanged.
This is Shani’s dungeon quest on Pendola Pass. The useful shortcut is that acquiring your own Conduit is optional: if a squadmate or another Raider opens the hatch, you can enter. From there, the route through the lift, processing rooms and final loot hangar is the same.
ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast optional objective fixed
Update 2.2.0 corrects the check for the optional Emperor Gateway Conduit objective. The patch notes confirm that it now requires the correct item named by the objective; they do not identify a replacement item or new drop location. Read the live quest wording, and use that requirement instead of advice based on the earlier bug.
The main ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast objectives remain: enter the Emperor; find its power source; learn where Harvester Payloads go and where they are stored; search five eligible containers; and obtain a unique Emperor item. The optional Conduit check is separate from all six of those requirements.
The location and rewards below are based on the existing quest, with the optional check corrected for the October 20 patch.
ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast: Unlock Shani’s Emperor mission
Before ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast appears in Shani’s quests, complete Tracks of the Beast and Celeste’s Sizing Things Up. Tracks of the Beast begins after Exploring Pendola Pass and introduces the Bully and Skulker near the Northern Tracks. Sizing Things Up involves photographing parts of the fallen Emperor and delivering an ARC Conductive Coupler. Those two preparations establish the route into the machine. Return to Speranza once both are ticked off and accept the dungeon quest from Shani. Don’t confuse the outside reconnaissance tasks with what you’re about to do inside.
Prepare a gateway Conduit
An Emperor Gateway Conduit is the access item associated with entering the Emperor. The quest lists acquiring one as an optional preparatory objective, while the gateway itself still needs a valid way to open. Use the Redirection activity on Pendola Pass to gather the appropriate materials and follow our Emperor Gateway Conduit guide for the access steps and current crafting requirements before deployment. The Conduit opens the way; it is not the unique quest loot you have to bring out. Bring an Augment with a Safe Pocket, healing, ammunition and ideally a team who knows how to retreat from tight corridors.

Enter the Emperor rather than its exterior
Go to the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass and find the round hatch at its base. If someone in your raid has already opened it, enter freely. Otherwise use one Emperor Gateway Conduit at the socket next to the hatch. Acquiring your own Conduit is an optional quest stage because an open hatch lets anyone through. Shani supplies a Grappling Hook when you accept ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast.
Find the power source and payload storage
There are three investigation stages before the loot. First, get past the entrance Hydra and enter the circular ground-floor lift chamber. Shoot the four targets on the central column, then the four wall targets that appear; this shuts down the electrical barrier. Wait for the column to descend, step onto the raised ledge and ride up to the white-lit doorway. Second, follow the trials to the compactor and climb the ladder above it onto the upper platform. That’s where the Harvester Payload processing objective registers. Third, continue towards the final loot hangar and reach the doorway overlooking the storage chamber to find where the incoming payloads end up. The middle rooms can appear in different orders, but these three landmarks identify the quest’s investigation route in ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast.
Search five eligible containers inside
The quest’s five-container objective counts containers inside the Emperor. A supply box opened outside in Old Town or Railroad Junction will not count. Explore the interior loot rooms and check the tracker after each search. If the counter doesn’t increase, try another lootable container inside the machine and check the tracker before moving on. ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast also asks for one unusual Emperor loot item, so don’t confuse five searched boxes with having finished the retrieval. Some loot rooms have multiple racks, and other teams may reach them first.
ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast: Recover the Emperor Modulator
The unique quest item is a Legendary Emperor Modulator, which you obtain from inside the Emperor, particularly the final loot hangar. Search the hangar’s payload containers until you find one and keep it. Shoot the six yellow wall targets around the hangar to open the wall containers and exit route. The blue containers hold loot; opening an orange container starts an explosion timer, so move away before it detonates. The separate five-container quest counter can be completed with eligible containers along the dungeon route, including breached wall capsules. Once you have the Modulator and all the investigation objectives, use the yellow-lit return passages back towards the hatch and head to a ballistic gondola extraction. For ARC Raiders Belly of the Beast, keep the Emperor Modulator until the quest registers the item and you’ve extracted.

Reward list and common mistakes
Shani rewards you with 10,000 XP, one Snap Hook, one Pendola Pass Observatory Key, three Shield Rechargers and three Sterilized Bandages. These are completion rewards separate from the Legendary Emperor Modulator you recover during the mission.
