Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin is a free Fortnitemares 2026 Outfit unlocked by completing 26 Nitemare quests. As of October 22, there are 27 documented quests across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload, so the Outfit can be earned now without V-Bucks or a Battle Pass purchase.
There is a catch. Battle Royale has 12 available objectives and Horde Rush has nine, leaving you short of the required 26. You need at least five of the six Reload quests too, all on Nitemare Island. Here’s the most reliable route, how to claim your reward and what to check if the skin isn’t in your Locker.
Final-week Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin deadline and quest route
The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin reward closes with Fortnitemares on Sunday 1 November 2026. Epic has not announced an exact UK hour for the quest deadline, so try to finish by Saturday 31 October. The UK is on GMT after the clocks changed on October 25.
The Outfit unlocks with 26 completed Nitemare quests across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload, not simply by gaining 26 levels. Check Quests > Fortnitemares for your counter. You can finish several Horde Rush objectives in the same match, such as Cube Monster damage, perks and using a Rare weapon or better. Battle Royale tasks involving containers and named locations can also be grouped together.
The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin currently requires some Reload progress, as Battle Royale and Horde Rush don’t offer enough distinct tasks on their own. Play Nitemare Island when it’s in Reload rotation. Squid Grounds and Stranger Things won’t complete map-specific Halloween objectives. If you are stuck on a Hunt Mark or a particular Reload modifier, focus on easier eligible challenges while waiting for the correct island. After reaching 26, return to the event rewards or Items Acquired screen, then look in Locker > Outfits. The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin is the final Outfit; the earlier similarly named spray is not the skin.
Other last-week tasks include the Fortnitemares hub, Battle Pass deadline and free cosmetics tracker. Monday Sprite Mastery bonuses do not substitute for actual Nitemare quest completions toward the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin.
How to unlock the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin
Open Fortnite’s Quests menu, select Fortnitemares and check your Nitemare quest counter. Complete 26 eligible objectives, then claim the Outfit on the event reward track or through the Items Acquired screen. Once claimed, it appears under Locker → Outfits.
- Complete the available Battle Royale or Zero Build Nitemare challenges.
- Play the Epic-made Horde Rush mode for its nine event quests.
- Queue Reload when Nitemare Island is in rotation, and complete at least five of its six Nitemare quests.
- Return to the lobby, confirm 26 completed quests and claim Jack-A-Nape.
The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin is different from the Jack-A-Nape Spray awarded at 16 completed quests. The Outfit requires 26; earning XP from daily quests or an unrelated island does not increase that particular total.
Does the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin require Reload?
With the objectives available by October 22, yes. The published quest lists contain 27 challenges, broken down as follows.

That leaves room to skip one Reload objective. If defeating a Hunt Mark is proving difficult because The Hunt modifier isn’t activating, concentrate on the other five: the three Nitemare One tasks, ten melee hits and answering a Stalkbox phone. You’ll need to complete one earlier Reload quest to unlock Nitemare Two.

Fastest quests to earn the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin
Start with objectives that fit naturally together. In Battle Royale, visit the three October 16 locations while searching named-area containers and gathering shields. Keep a Wood Stake Shotgun or Dual Fiend Hunters for the 750-damage task. The full 27-quest checklist has every target and reward.
In Horde Rush, collect Cube Monster Parts, buy a Starter Kit and choose Perks as you play. For the later challenges, damage the purple Cube Monster spawners and use a blue Rare weapon or better to get 200 Cube Monster eliminations. Save Nitemare Island Reload objectives for matches when that island appears. The location tasks can be done while looting normally. Why is the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin missing?
First check your Fortnitemares event count. The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin won’t appear simply because you completed the Battle Royale tasks or reached a particular Battle Pass level. It unlocks when 26 qualifying event quests show as finished.
If you’ve reached 26, return to the lobby and look for the Items Acquired or Claim screen. Then go to Locker → Outfits. Make sure you’re signed into the same Epic account that completed the quests; linked platforms share progress, but different Epic accounts do not. Restart the game and recheck your Locker if the claim screen has already disappeared.

When does the Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin offer end?
Epic schedules Fortnitemares through November 1, 2026. Finish the quests while the event is running, then check the in-game countdown for the precise cutoff. UK players should account for the October 25 switch from BST to GMT rather than relying on an older quoted reset hour.
The Fortnite Jack-A-Nape skin is one of several free rewards along the Fortnitemares track, but the Outfit is the final prize. With enough quests already available, the best approach is to finish your remaining Reload objectives before the Halloween rotation changes again.
