Child of Odin Achievement should now unlock correctly after Valheim Patch 1.0.16. Iron Gate specifically fixed a bug that could stop it firing even when a character had completed its four required achievement spirits, so updating the game is the first step if your completion run stalled here.
The important thing with the Child of Odin Achievement is that it is not a single boss kill or hidden interaction. It depends on The Toughest Viking, The Master Hunter, The Survivor and The Pathfinder, which means troubleshooting should begin with those four prerequisites rather than repeating random late-game tasks.
Child of Odin Achievement: requirements

Child of Odin Achievement Image Iron Gate Studio.
| The Toughest Viking | Defeat every main boss on Hard difficulty. |
| The Master Hunter | Kill every kind of creature on Hard difficulty. |
| The Survivor | Survive 30 consecutive days. |
| The Pathfinder | Travel far in all four directions with the map disabled. |
The Valheim 1.0 achievements list is the best companion page if one of those names is still unclear. The Child of Odin Achievement only becomes a useful troubleshooting target once all four spirits are present on the same eligible character.
What Patch 1.0.16 fixed
Iron Gate’s wording is narrow: the Child of Odin Achievement was not unlocking correctly in some cases, and 1.0.16 fixes that. The requirement itself did not change. You still need the same four spirits, but the final combination check should no longer fail in the cases covered by the bug.
If you completed everything before the patch, update first and load the affected character normally. Check the achievement screen before rerunning the whole boss ladder. The Valheim Patch 1.0.16 guide covers the other fixes shipped at the same time.
Check every prerequisite separately
The Toughest Viking is expensive because it asks for the entire current boss ladder on Hard. The Valheim 1.0 progression guide helps confirm that your route includes the current 1.0 endgame rather than stopping at an older boss list.
The Master Hunter is similarly easy to underestimate because the Hard requirement matters. The Survivor is a continuous 30-day survival run, while The Pathfinder asks for the directional exploration goal with the map disabled. One incomplete spirit is enough to make the final achievement look bugged when it is actually waiting for a prerequisite.
Do not use devcommands as the first fix
If the Child of Odin Achievement is still missing, do not immediately force progress with console commands. Valheim 1.0 has achievement eligibility rules around cheat history and cheat-marked items, and there has already been a separate bug where legitimate items were incorrectly labelled. Our Valheim items marked cheated guide explains that problem.
A cleaner route is to update, verify all four spirits, make a normal backup and repeat only the smallest legitimate action connected to a missing prerequisite if necessary. Iron Gate has not documented one universal manual retrigger sequence for every save, so any guide promising a magic button press is guessing.
Old worlds and completion runs
You do not need to throw away a long-running world because the Child of Odin Achievement failed before the hotfix. Valheim 1.0 supports existing saves, although some post-1.0 statistics may need fresh tracked actions. The old world and Valheim 1.0 guide explains the broader save rules.
Back up a valuable world before doing anything destructive. Patch 1.0.16 exists to repair a bad unlock case, not to turn an achievement problem into a lost-save problem.
Other achievement fixes from the same patch
The same update also fixes a case where Comfort Is King Achievement did not unlock and removes Blue Mushroom from The Gourmet. If more than one completion goal is stuck, check the Valheim Blue Mushroom guide rather than assuming every achievement is affected by the same bug.
Once the Child of Odin Achievement is working, the Valheim Guides Hub is the sensible place to fill any remaining boss, creature, building or exploration gaps. The achievement is a summary of a very broad endgame run, so the supporting problems are better solved by their own guides.
