Valheim Blue Mushroom is no longer required for The Gourmet achievement after Patch 1.0.16. Iron Gate removed the unobtainable Blue Mushroom from the achievement check on September 25, so you do not need to find a secret spawn, use developer commands or import an old item just to finish The Gourmet.
The confusion around Valheim Blue Mushroom came from the 1.0 achievement requirements themselves. The Gourmet asks you to eat every required edible item, but Blue Mushroom was included despite having no normal acquisition route. That left clean achievement hunters with an impossible final checkbox until the hotfix removed it.
Valheim Blue Mushroom: the current answer

On a current 1.0.16 build, ignore Blue Mushroom when working on The Gourmet. The item being excluded is an official rules change, not a community workaround. The Valheim 1.0 achievements list remains the best overview for the rest of the system.
Why players thought Blue Mushroom was the missing food
The Gourmet tracks a long list of edible items from the whole progression path. When one entry remained hidden between otherwise familiar foods, players traced the missing requirement back to Blue Mushroom. The problem was not that the item was exceptionally rare; it was that the normal game did not provide a legitimate route to obtain it.
That is why older advice telling players to spawn a Valheim Blue Mushroom is now obsolete. Patch 1.0.16 fixes the requirement itself. If a guide still says Blue Mushroom is mandatory after September 25, it is describing the launch-state bug rather than the current achievement rules.
What should you check for The Gourmet now?
The removal of Valheim Blue Mushroom does not make The Gourmet a short achievement. You still need the legitimate edible items tracked across early biomes, Mistlands, Ashlands and Deep North. The Valheim Deep North food guide is especially useful for the full-release foods, while the Valheim farming guide helps with renewable ingredients.
Work through food by biome rather than eating random items until the achievement fires. Late-game dishes, raw edible ingredients and newer 1.0 recipes are easy to overlook on an old character. If one entry remains after the patch, assume a legitimate food is still missing before blaming Blue Mushroom again.
Do not use devcommands for Blue Mushroom
There is no longer a reason to use developer commands for Valheim Blue Mushroom just to complete The Gourmet. Valheim 1.0 has separate achievement eligibility rules around cheating, so forcing an item that the achievement no longer requires can create a bigger problem than the one you started with.
If a legitimate item unexpectedly carries a cheat label, that is a different known 1.0 issue covered by our Valheim items marked cheated guide. Do not mix that problem up with the removed Blue Mushroom requirement.
What if The Gourmet still does not unlock?
If The Gourmet remains locked after Valheim Blue Mushroom has been removed, confirm the game is actually on Patch 1.0.16 or later. Then revisit the consumed-food checklist, especially 1.0 foods your character may never have eaten after achievement tracking began. The Valheim Patch 1.0.16 guide covers the hotfix itself.
Players using a long-running save should also read the old world and Valheim 1.0 guide. Old-world progression can be perfectly valid while a newly introduced statistic still needs a fresh tracked action. Do not delete a world because one food achievement is late to update.
The Gourmet is now legitimately completable
The practical result of the Valheim Blue Mushroom change is simple: a clean character no longer needs an unobtainable item to finish The Gourmet. If Blue Mushroom was the only thing blocking you, 1.0.16 removes that dead end and lets you focus on food that actually exists in normal play.
If you are chasing the wider completion chain, the fixed Child of Odin Achievement and Comfort Is King Achievement are the other achievement-specific fixes from the same patch. The Valheim Guides Hub covers the rest of current progression without relying on launch-week assumptions.
