How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76 has a straightforward practical answer: loot the normal Water Purifier plan from the Overseer’s cache inside Charleston Capitol DMV and the Large Water Purifier plan from the Overseer’s cache at Camp McClintock. CAMP systems are full of small menu rules, so the fastest route is to use the correct menu first rather than rebuilding or buying something you do not need.
The cache plan appears when the character has not already learned it. A lot of old Fallout 76 advice is technically related but no longer the quickest route, so this guide starts with the current practical answer and then covers the alternatives.

- Main method: Loot the normal Water Purifier plan from the Overseer’s cache inside Charleston Capitol DMV and the Large Water Purifier plan from the Overseer’s cache at Camp McClintock.

- Useful alternative: Capturing a workshop for the first time teaches the small purifier plan.
- Avoid: Checking random CAMP vendors before opening the guaranteed Overseer caches.
What the CAMP system does and does not do
The normal and industrial purifiers are separate plans, so decide which build size and water source you actually need. That distinction is important for How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76 because CAMP slots, storage, budget and specialist containers are separate systems even though they all appear around the same build interface.
Server hopping only helps when the thing you are chasing is actually tied to world or vendor state. It does not bypass quest, reputation or character-level requirements. In CAMP building, buying another slot rarely fixes a budget or storage problem unless the feature explicitly says it does.
Common reasons it seems broken
The common trap with How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76 is checking random CAMP vendors before opening the guaranteed Overseer caches. If the expected option is missing, check placement restrictions, ownership, membership, learned plans and the currently active CAMP slot before deleting anything.
Capturing a workshop for the first time teaches the small purifier plan. Use that only after the main route has been checked, especially if the alternative costs Atoms, Bullion or a limited currency.
Plan the next CAMP change

Knowing why the route works also makes it easier to spot outdated advice. When Bethesda moves a reward or changes a system, the prerequisite and vendor logic are the first things worth rechecking. For How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76, the best result is a CAMP that stays easy to move, power, store and shop from rather than one that only looks complete in a screenshot.
If you came here specifically for How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76, use the first route before experimenting with optional alternatives. It is the shortest path to the result and gives you a clear point where the search is finished.
The reason How to Get Water Purifier Plans in Fallout 76 is easy to overcomplicate is that Fallout 76 has layered years of new vendors, events and progression systems over older content. The current requirement above is the one that matters for this search.
