WARDOGS Game Pass is not currently included as a Game Pass catalogue game. WARDOGS launched on Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, and although an official Xbox Series X|S page is now live for the planned 2028 console version, that listing does not show the game as included with Game Pass. Do not confuse the subscription needed for online console multiplayer with the game being part of the catalogue.
Is WARDOGS Game Pass included right now?
No. As of September 13, 2026, there is no playable WARDOGS Game Pass version in the subscription library. The live game is sold through Steam on PC. If you want to play today, you need the PC release rather than opening the Xbox app and looking for a Game Pass install button.
The confusion around WARDOGS Game Pass comes from the new Xbox store listing. It says online multiplayer on console will require Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. That is the standard subscription requirement for many paid online console games. It does not say WARDOGS is included free with those subscriptions.
WARDOGS is still coming to Xbox
The lack of a WARDOGS Game Pass catalogue listing does not mean there is no Xbox version. WARDOGS is now officially listed for Xbox Series X|S, with the wider console launch targeted for 2028. That future store page also lists online multiplayer, Xbox achievements, 4K Ultra HD and cross-platform multiplayer.
Could it join Game Pass later?
A future WARDOGS Game Pass deal is possible in the broad sense that any publisher can make a subscription agreement later, but Team17 and BULKHEAD have not announced one. There is no reason to treat a possible future deal as confirmed simply because the Xbox store page exists. Until Microsoft or the developers announce inclusion, the safe answer remains no.
If WARDOGS Game Pass is eventually announced, check whether the deal covers PC Game Pass, Xbox console tiers, cloud streaming or all of them. Subscription availability can differ by platform and tier. It would also matter whether an announcement is for launch day in 2028 or a later addition.
Game Pass subscription versus game ownership
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Playable on Game Pass today? | No |
| Playable WARDOGS version today | Steam Early Access on Windows PC |
| Xbox Series X|S version | Officially listed for the 2028 console window |
| Game Pass needed for future Xbox online play | A qualifying online-multiplayer tier is listed |
| Game included with that subscription | Not announced |
That distinction is the key to the WARDOGS Game Pass question. A subscription can be required to access online multiplayer for a game you own separately. That is different from a game appearing in the subscription library at no additional purchase price.
For now, treat WARDOGS Game Pass as “not included.” Buy the Steam version only if you want to play the current Early Access build, and wishlist the Xbox release if you are waiting for console. If Microsoft or Team17 announces an actual Game Pass deal later, the answer can change; the store page on its own is not that announcement.
The Xbox store page can look misleading at a glance
The wording around WARDOGS Game Pass is easy to misread because Xbox now uses Game Pass names for the subscription tiers that unlock paid online multiplayer. Seeing “requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate” beside WARDOGS therefore tells you what subscription a future console owner needs to play online. It does not put the game into the subscription catalogue.
A true catalogue listing normally says the game is included with a named tier or appears in Microsoft’s Game Pass library. The current WARDOGS page does not provide that inclusion message. Until it does, or Team17 announces a deal, budget for the game as a separate purchase plus whatever online subscription the Xbox platform requires in 2028.
It is also too early to use the 2028 console release as evidence for a day-one subscription deal. Publishers often decide catalogue agreements much closer to launch. Until Microsoft, Team17 or BULKHEAD says otherwise, the most accurate WARDOGS Game Pass expectation is a separately purchased game with a qualifying Xbox online-multiplayer subscription.
