WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox versions are officially planned for 2028. WARDOGS launched first on Windows PC through Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, but the console plans are no longer just a vague possibility: the PS5 store page lists a 2028 release and Xbox has an official Series X|S store listing. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version announced.

When are WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox versions coming out?
The current answer for WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox is 2028, but neither store currently gives an exact day or month. BULKHEAD originally described consoles as something for after Early Access, then the September launch messaging moved that into a public 2028 window. Treat 2028 as the official target, not as a guaranteed date that cannot move while the PC game is still evolving.
The PlayStation listing confirms WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox plans on the Sony side by naming a PS5 version, online play and up to 99 other online players. The Xbox listing names Xbox Series X|S, 4K Ultra HD, optimization for Series X|S and online multiplayer. Neither listing points to old-generation hardware.
Why WARDOGS launched on PC first
The gap before WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox makes sense for a game built around 100-player servers, destruction, vehicles, building, voice chat and a persistent economy. Steam Early Access gives BULKHEAD time to tune performance, servers, controls and progression before certifying console builds. The launch week has already produced server hotfixes and performance changes, showing how quickly that foundation is moving.
Will the console versions have controller support?
Yes, the eventual WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox releases will necessarily be built around controller input. The PS5 listing already mentions DualSense vibration support, while the Xbox page is specifically for Series X|S. PC controller support is currently limited, so console development should also drive work on complete gamepad navigation and bindings.
Will PS5 and Xbox players need subscriptions?
The store pages for WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox already show the normal console multiplayer subscription requirements. PlayStation says PS Plus is required for online play. Xbox says online console multiplayer requires a qualifying Game Pass tier. Those subscriptions pay for console multiplayer access; they do not automatically mean WARDOGS itself is included in PS Plus or Game Pass.
What about crossplay?
The WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox question now overlaps with crossplay because the Xbox store page lists Xbox cross-platform multiplayer. However, BULKHEAD has not yet published a detailed matrix explaining whether that means Xbox-to-PC, Xbox-to-PS5, or all three together when consoles launch. Until that is spelled out, avoid treating full three-way crossplay as confirmed.
For now, anyone waiting on WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox should wishlist the official console store page rather than buying hardware or planning a group around an assumed release month. The important change is that console versions are real and publicly listed for 2028; the remaining unknowns are exact timing, crossplay details, pricing and how closely the console build tracks the mature PC version.
What the store pages already confirm
The official listings give WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox players more than a logo and a release year. PS5 is listed as an online-only game with support for up to 99 other players and DualSense vibration. Xbox Series X|S lists online multiplayer for 2–100 players, 4K Ultra HD, achievements and Series X|S optimization. Those details can still evolve before 2028, but they show the console project is already far beyond a casual “maybe later” comment.
What they do not confirm is equally important. There is no final console price, no exact release month, no final performance target and no published promise that the console build will launch with every PC Early Access feature unchanged. WARDOGS will have almost two years of PC development before that window arrives, so the 2028 version could be materially different from the September 2026 build.
There is also no reason to expect a last-generation port. The public listings specifically name PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which fits the CPU and memory demands of a 100-player destructible battlefield. Anyone on PS4 or Xbox One should therefore treat an upgrade as necessary if they want the eventual WARDOGS PS5 and Xbox console release.
