WARDOGS classes are not traditional locked character classes. Assault, Medic, Recon, Support, Driver and Pilot are progression tracks that respond to what you do in a match. You can carry equipment from several tracks in one loadout and change your job on the next life. The important part is understanding which actions feed each track, because that decides what specialist gear becomes available later.

WARDOGS classes are progression tracks, not character picks
The first thing to know about WARDOGS classes is that there is no pre-match class screen forcing you into one role. The vendor and progression system give you the freedom to create a hybrid loadout. A Recon-focused player can still bring medical equipment, and a Support player can carry a normal rifle. XP follows the relevant action, so the system watches what you actually contribute.
Assault
Among WARDOGS classes, Assault is the straightforward infantry-combat track. Assault-linked weapons and frontline fighting push this progression and eventually open better assault rifles and associated equipment. It suits players who spend most of the match contesting compounds and lanes around the Control Zone. The mistake is assuming every kill automatically belongs to Assault; weapon family and activity matter.
Medic
Medic is one of the most immediately useful WARDOGS classes because downed teammates are everywhere near the objective. Healing and reviving advance Medic progression while keeping friendly bodies in the fight. Better revive equipment improves how quickly you can recover players. A strong Medic does not need to avoid combat; the role simply gets the most value by surviving the first exchange and cleaning up the casualties afterward.
Recon
Recon is the WARDOGS classes track for spotting and long-range weapons. Binoculars can generate Recon XP before you own serious sniper equipment, which makes spotting one of the smartest early grinds. Marksman rifles and dedicated snipers arrive as the track rises. Recon works best when you are identifying useful targets and feeding information to the team rather than lying on a remote hill with no sightline to the objective.
Support
Support is the broadest of the WARDOGS classes for players who like logistics and heavier tools. Building FOB assets, repairing vehicles, resupplying and using Support-linked weapons all give the track ways to progress. A good Support player changes the battlefield by making positions sustainable. The role is especially valuable around travel routes and Control Zone edges where the faction can repeatedly use what you build.
Driver and Pilot
Driver and Pilot are the transport-focused WARDOGS classes. Ground vehicles develop Driver progression when they are being used to move and support teammates, while helicopters and aerial logistics build Pilot. These tracks reward competence rather than sightseeing: carry people toward useful destinations, protect the asset and keep the route running. Empty joyrides are expensive and contribute far less to the match.
Which WARDOGS class should you level first?
Choosing between WARDOGS classes should start with the unlocks you want and the work you enjoy. Medic and Recon are easy to make useful with cheap tools, Assault suits direct fighters, Support rewards builders, and Driver/Pilot fit players who prefer transport. Because nothing permanently locks you in, you can build one track for an unlock and then change focus later without creating a new character.
No role exists in isolation. A Driver creates value because Assault and Medic players arrive sooner; a Recon player creates value because teammates know where to aim; Support creates positions everyone can use. The most effective teams are not full of one “best” class but have enough people doing the unglamorous jobs.
You can also change emphasis without restarting progression. If the current zone makes sniping useless, switch equipment and help somewhere else for a life. The Recon progress you already earned remains there when the map or objective gives long-range play another chance.

Keep your approach tied to the current objective and your available cash rather than copying a loadout or route blindly.
