Battlefield has long been EA’s answer to Call of Duty, a fast paced military shooter that allows players to drive vehicles, including tanks and planes. The series also features destructible environments which make the games online mode a lot of fun.

The last entry in the series, Battlefield V, was released back in 2018 so it has been a while since we’ve seen a new game.

But today, EA finally lifted the curtain and gave us a look at what they’ve been working on.

New Battlefield Announced

After a long wait and months of anticipation, EA and DICE have finally announced the next entry in the series.

Previously believed to be called Battlefield 6, the game appears to be a reboot of the series as it is simply titled Battlefield.

In a blog post, EA revealed the game and what to expect from the first next-gen entry in the series.

“We’re in daily playtesting mode right now: polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step.

It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction.

Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.”

EA also revealed that the team working on the game is the largest to ever work on a Battlefield title, indicating they are looking to go all in with this new entry and come out of the gate swinging as the series moves over to the next-gen consoles.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were released in November 2020, but the last game in the series, Battlefield V, to be released was in 2018.

So far we know the game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but we still don’t have confirmation as to whether it will appear on the PS4 or Xbox One.

With the EA Play event taking place during E3, this will be the place where we should finally see gameplay and get a look at what to expect from the game when it launches later this year.

Battlefield games typically release in late October, so that could give us a clue regarding its release date, but nothing has been confirmed by EA so far.
