After opening on August 6, Luffy blasts with a one-two punch as One Piece Film: Red makes history as the highest-grossing One Piece film ever.

The anime movie also ranked #1 at the Japanese box office in its opening week. The film gathered a total ticket sales of 1.58 million, earning the film 2.254 billion yen (about US$16.7 million). One Piece Film: Red seconded to Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train as its 2-day opening weekend smashed records with 3.3 billion yen. However, the movie managed to kick JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 and move it to the third spot with 1.6 billion sales on its opening weekend.

One Piece Film: Red opened on 495 theaters in Japan last Saturday, August 6. Currently, the highest-grossing installment of the franchise is One Piece Film: Z, with 6.87 billion yen. However, with the influx of moviegoers in Japan, that is expected to change as Once Piece Film: Red is expected to change soon.

IMAX screenings were also held for the film, together with MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos on an opening day.

The film introduces a new character named Uta, the daughter of Shank. The voice actor for the character is split into two. The speaking voice is Kaori Nazuka, while Ado plays the singing voice.

According to Crunchyroll, they will theatrically screen the upcoming One Piece Film Red anime film in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this fall. The screenings will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub. No specific dates have been provided as of yet.
