BTD6 Round 28 sends six Lead Bloons, and ordinary darts bounce straight off them. You need an attack that can damage Lead: a Bomb Shooter works on the outer shell, while a Sniper Monkey with the 1-0-0 Full Metal Jacket upgrade is another simple answer.
There is one catch with the Bomb Shooter. Each Lead releases two Black Bloons, and Black Bloons resist ordinary explosions. Keep a Dart Monkey, Sniper or another Black-capable tower on the track to finish what the Bomb Shooter starts.
How to beat BTD6 Round 28
The easiest answer to BTD6 Round 28 is a Bomb Shooter positioned so the incoming Lead Bloons pass within range. Its explosions break the Lead layer, but each popped Lead releases two Black Bloons. Those Blacks resist ordinary explosions, so keep a Dart Monkey, Sniper or another compatible tower to finish them. If your track has a short entry lane, place it near a bend or an area where it gets time to shoot rather than right at the exit.
A Sniper Monkey upgraded with Full Metal Jacket is another dependable early choice. Snipers can attack across the map as long as they have line of sight, so the upgrade can be useful on layouts where a Bomb Shooter’s limited range makes coverage awkward. Full Metal Jacket makes the Sniper’s shots capable of damaging Lead, while its ordinary hits can still deal with the Black Bloons released afterwards.
For BTD6 Round 28, a Monkey Buccaneer with Hot Shots is useful on maps with suitable water. Fire-based attacks such as Gwendolin’s can also damage Lead. Your available hero, unlocked upgrades and existing tower placements determine which option is most efficient, so there is no need to buy every counter at once.

Why your darts are not popping Lead Bloons
Lead Bloons are immune to ordinary sharp attacks. That includes a basic Dart Monkey’s darts and a Ninja Monkey’s normal shurikens. A Ninja that handled the first Camo Bloon on Round 24 therefore does not automatically protect you from BTD6 Round 28.
If you see a Lead Bloon moving through a group of attacking towers without taking damage, check the attacks themselves. Camo detection is irrelevant to an ordinary Lead unless the Lead also has Camo later in the game. The fix here is to use an attack that actually damages metal.
A Bomb Shooter alone will break the Lead shells and then struggle with the Black Bloons inside. Black Bloons resist standard explosions, so pair your Bomb Shooter with a sharp or other Black-compatible attack. It is a good reason to keep your ordinary bloon-popping defence rather than replacing everything with bombs. Good BTD6 Round 28 coverage complements your existing towers.
Should you use a Bomb Shooter or Sniper Monkey?
Choose a Bomb Shooter when the track passes near a convenient central position and you want an early, straightforward Lead answer. Its splash damage also helps when ordinary bloons travel in groups. Keep in mind that a tower placed too far from the action has no value regardless of its damage type.
Choose a Full Metal Jacket Sniper when you need flexible map coverage, especially across a long or awkward track. Check line of sight, and remember that a single slower Sniper is not a substitute for your whole defence. It can deal with the Lead layer while faster nearby towers finish the weaker bloons that emerge.
For BTD6 Round 28, either approach can solve the immediate problem if you have enough damage and the tower can actually hit the Bloons. On harder maps or with restricted starting cash, the correct purchase depends on what you have already built. Do not follow an upgrade order that assumes your map has water or a specific hero.
Prepare for the next Lead and Camo checks
Passing BTD6 Round 28 does not mean you can forget Lead protection. More Lead Bloons appear on Round 30, and the combination of Camo and Lead becomes a concern later. Round 59 is a major check because both properties can appear together.
For Camo Lead, a Bomb Shooter still needs a way to see Camo, such as Radar Scanner from a Monkey Village, or you need to remove Camo before the Bomb Shooter attacks. A Sniper with metal-popping ability likewise needs Camo vision if that specific tower is expected to hit both properties. A tower that can see Camo but cannot damage Lead is not a complete answer.
Once BTD6 Round 28 is behind you, start investing in your Round 40 MOAB plan. A defence with excellent Lead coverage can still lack enough concentrated damage to break the first blimp before it reaches the exit.
BTD6 Round 28 FAQ
What Bloons appear on Round 28?
There are exactly six Lead Bloons in the standard Round 28. The issue is the Lead property, not an unusually large rush.
Can Ninja Monkeys pop the Lead Bloons?
Basic Ninja shurikens cannot pop Lead. You need another compatible attack or a suitable support effect that changes what your Ninja can damage.
Does Radar Scanner help with BTD6 Round 28?
Not by itself. Radar Scanner provides Camo detection within a Monkey Village’s range. Ordinary Lead Bloons on this round require Lead-capable damage, not just improved detection.
