Fortnite Open 25 Treasure Chests in Treasure Hunters is a straightforward quest. You need to open ordinary loot chests while playing on Crossbones Isle. This is the first standard chest challenge in the Treasure Hunt questline, and it can be completed across several matches.

Fortnite Open 25 Treasure Chests quest arrived on 1 November 2026 and awards 10,000 XP. Unlike a special chest cosmetic, this reward comes from finishing a numbered quest. You don’t need to find a particular weapon, beat A$AP Rocky or visit a special location before you can start.

Enter Battle Royale or Zero Build, land on Crossbones Isle and search the buildings near your landing spot. Open each loot chest you come across and move to the next group of rooms. An ammo box, a weapon on the ground or a pile of floor loot isn’t the same as opening a loot chest.

The best way to open 25 Treasure Chests is to work through your usual looting route instead of trying to open all 25 in a single game. Your progress carries across matches, so you can keep playing, looting and moving through the island until the counter reaches its target.

You can work on other objectives at the same time. The starting Treasure Hunt list also includes collecting a map fragment on The $.$. Rocky, opening two Rare Chests and opening two Sprite Chests. These are separate items in the Quests tab, so it’s worth keeping an eye on which counter you’re progressing.

Best way to find enough chests on Crossbones Isle

Choose a landing with several buildings close together, preferably away from the biggest early fights. Search each room and then cross to the next structure rather than waiting around one empty building. The bus path and other players change from match to match, so a quiet landing can be more valuable than a popular named location.

Fortune Sprites are particularly useful when you’re trying to open 25 Treasure Chests. Their ability reveals nearby chests, helping you spot loot containers that might otherwise be easy to miss. You still need to reach and open the chest, but the reveal makes it easier to decide which room to search next.

Crossbones Isle is a smaller, 80-player Battle Royale island with cannons that can launch you towards another area when you’ve finished looting. Use the available movement routes to reach your next cluster of buildings and keep the counter ticking upwards.

Which chests count towards the 25?

The quest to open 25 Treasure Chests concerns the ordinary loot containers you open around the island. Rare Chests have a separate two-opening quest. These are special containers, not regular chests that happen to drop a blue or purple weapon.

Sprite Chests work differently again. Find a Sprite Wanted Poster, tear it from a wall and follow the Sprite Treasure Map to a buried chest. Dig it up with your pickaxe, then open it for the Sprite Chest objective. The Wanted Poster method is its own activity rather than a normal building loot run.

If you’re combining the objectives while trying to open 25 Treasure Chests, check your Quests tab after opening a special chest. The quest listings show separate counters, but do not establish whether one opening increases the standard total as well. Opening ordinary chests is the direct route to the 25-chest target.

Fortnite Open 25 Treasure Chests – What happens after?

The first milestone rewards 10,000 XP. The Treasure Hunt quest data lists additional standard-chest stages at 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 openings, with another 10,000 XP listed for each stage. You can continue progressing through the chest challenges as you play the mini-season.

Rare Chest milestones begin at two, then rise to 10, 25, 50 and 100. Sprite Chest stages also start at two and continue to higher targets. Those special tracks are distinct from the ordinary-chest progression, even when you’re searching for all three types in the same match.

Does opening 25 chests unlock Pirate Shop Access?

No. The open 25 Treasure Chests objective rewards XP. Pirate Shop Access and the other unusual season cosmetics belong to a separate, chance-based chest reward system. Opening the final chest for your quest does not guarantee that a cosmetic will appear.

For a straightforward run, open the loot chests you find while moving through buildings, use a Fortune Sprite if you have one, and watch your progress in the Quests tab. Once you finish the first milestone, the later targets give you more XP to work towards as you keep playing.
