Terraria 1.4.6 release date remains unconfirmed. Re-Logic has finished building Crossplay Phase One, but a few problems surfaced in final testing before Terraria 1.4.6 could be sent to platform holders. The studio has not announced a worldwide launch day or time.

The team hopes to get back on track during the week beginning 2 November 2026. That’s when the team hopes to send the update for approval, not when players should expect to download it. After the build is submitted, the relevant platform partners must sign off before the public launch can happen.

When is the Terraria 1.4.6 release date?

The Terraria 1.4.6 release date remains unconfirmed as of 1 November 2026. Re-Logic’s October 29 State of the Game said the first phase of crossplay was completed earlier in the month and entered extensive testing. A few issues emerged shortly before submission, and the team needs to resolve them first.

Even if the team submits the build in early November, that won’t tell us when the update is coming out. Re-Logic cannot predict how long certification by its platform partners will take. The Terraria 1.4.6 release date depends on both finishing the fixes and receiving those approvals.

Terraria 1.4.6 release date: testing and approval status

MilestoneAs of 1 November 2026
Crossplay developmentPhase One built, with issues found in final testing
SubmissionDelayed; hoped for week beginning 2 November
Platform approvalStill required after submission
Public launchNo confirmed date or time
Phase TwoPlanned separately

Why has crossplay been delayed?

The hold-up came from the last round of testing. Crossplay hasn’t been cancelled or pushed into a different update. Re-Logic hoped to submit the update across platforms in the week of 26 October. Its last round of tests found problems it wanted fixed before sending the build to Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and the other relevant partners.

Connecting players across PC, mobile and consoles takes more coordination than fixing a normal gameplay bug. Re-Logic expects its platform partners to examine the update closely because it lets different systems communicate with one another.

Before Re-Logic can settle the Terraria 1.4.6 release date, the remaining fixes must pass testing, the build must be submitted and every relevant platform partner must approve it. The studio expects to resolve the current testing issues fairly quickly, but it has not promised a specific public date.

What will Terraria 1.4.6 add?

The big addition is console crossplay. Once Phase One arrives, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch players are meant to be able to join sessions on the same local network, or connect remotely to compatible games by entering an IP address and port. A dedicated server is one option for hosting those remote games, not the only way to play. Players outside the host’s network may need to deal with networking settings to connect.

Compatible PC and mobile versions already support some cross-platform dedicated-server connections. The new feature is bringing consoles into that arrangement. It does not mean all networks will gain one-click friend invitations on day one.

Our Terraria crossplay guide explains what works today and what changes with the first phase. That distinction matters while the Terraria 1.4.6 release date remains unconfirmed.

Is the join-code feature coming with Phase One?

No. Shareable session IDs and join codes belong to the planned second phase. The aim is to let friends on different platforms and networks connect more easily without having to swap IP addresses or work through as much router setup. Phase Two has no confirmed date either.

Neither announcement confirms cross-save or shared progression. Crossplay would let you join someone else’s game; it does not automatically move your characters or worlds between devices. Playing together on one world and carrying a character save between devices are different features, so crossplay should not be treated as a promise of both.

Can you play Terraria cross-platform already?

PC and mobile players can already connect through compatible IP-based multiplayer, including dedicated servers. Console multiplayer exists within supported platform arrangements, but official console-to-PC and console-to-other-console crossplay is what Phase One is designed to add. It isn’t live yet.

PC has received the 1.4.5.8 update, with 1.4.5.8.1 fixes on console and mobile. Those builds are part of the existing update cycle, not evidence that 1.4.6 has launched.

What time will Terraria 1.4.6 release worldwide?

Re-Logic hasn’t announced a release hour, so there is no official UK, US, European or Australian time to convert yet. Any countdown attached to an exact day would be speculative. The best next checkpoint is Re-Logic announcing that the build has entered submission, followed by approval and an official launch notice.

The Terraria 1.4.6 release date will come from Re-Logic’s launch announcement, not the hoped-for submission week. Until then, the correct status is that Crossplay Phase One is close but has not been publicly released.
