99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses are the ten Halloween buildings used for the 2026 Trick or Treat event. Each house needs one Halloween Candle before it becomes active, and you can only knock on the door after night falls. The resident then gives either a Treat or a Trick.
The ten 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses are visually different and have different residents, but the basic loop is the same for every one: light the house, return at night and knock. You do not need ten different Candle types, and there is no separate quest that unlocks each resident.
All 10 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses

The ten 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses and their residents are:
| House | Resident |
|---|---|
| Green House | Viridial |
| Blue House | Cracky4 |
| Purple House | Foryxe |
| Black House | Crossbow Cultist |
| Dark Red House | Melee Cultist |
| Brown House | Pelt Trader |
| Orange House | Furniture Trader |
| Cyan House | Bird Watcher |
| Lime House | Alien |
| Fairy House | Fairy |
You do not need to find the houses in that order. The 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses are part of the seasonal structure set, so your useful route is the order you discover them in while exploring rather than a fixed numbered path.
How to activate a Trick or Treat house
Every one of the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses needs a Halloween Candle. Bring one to the front of the house and use it to activate the building. The lights coming on are the sign that the house is ready for the night-time interaction.
- Find a Halloween Candle from a chest, Cultist drop or Cultist event clear.
- Locate one of the decorated Halloween houses.
- Use one Candle at the house.
- Check that the lights turn on.
- Return after night begins.
- Knock on the front door.
You can light 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses during the day. That is usually the better approach because it lets you prepare several doors before the forest becomes more dangerous at night.
Do the houses need different Candles?
No. The same Halloween Candle item works across all ten 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses. You need one Candle per house activation, not a different coloured Candle for each building.
If you want to prepare all ten houses in one route, bring ten Candles. You can also work with fewer: light the houses you reach, use them at night and continue collecting more Candles during the same or a later run.
What happens when you knock?
After one of the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses has been activated, knock at night and the resident chooses a Treat or a Trick. A Treat can give Candy, items or a temporary positive effect. A Trick applies a prank effect instead.
Documented Trick effects include dropping your carried items, having your view covered by a pumpkin, being chained to a metal ball, turning into a frog, being flung away and inverted controls. These are temporary problems rather than a separate boss fight.
The door animation can occasionally show the wrong Trick or Treat indicator, so look at the actual reward or effect your character receives rather than relying only on the emoji above the house.

Possible Trick or Treat house rewards
The 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses can hand out far more than Candy. The reward pool includes food, equipment, utility items and temporary buffs.
| Documented possible Treat | Type |
|---|---|
| Candy | Halloween currency |
| Broken Radio | Item |
| Broken Microwave | Item |
| Fuel Canister | Fuel |
| Carrot Cake | Food |
| Pumpkin | Food / carving item |
| Candy Corn | Food |
| Cotton Candy | Food |
| Candy Apple | Food |
| Pumpkin Pie | Food |
| Laser Cannon | Weapon |
| Raygun | Weapon |
| Frozen Shurikens | Weapon |
| Frog Boots | Equipment |
| 5 Mossy Coins | Currency |
| Basketball | Item |
| Seasoning | Food upgrade item |
| Bandage | Healing |
A Treat can also give temporary positive effects such as no hunger for a few minutes or faster healing. The exact reward is random, so there is no “best house” that guarantees the Laser Cannon or another rare item.
Do costumes change the house rewards?
Costumes matter when using the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses. Costume pieces contribute to Candy earnings, and a complete matching four-piece outfit gives eight Candy per successful house visit.
That means your best house route starts before night. Collect costume pieces, organise them with the Costume Closet and activate several houses with Candles. By the time darkness arrives, you should be ready to knock rather than still searching for the items that make the route worthwhile.
See our 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Costumes guide for the matching sets and Costume Closet.
Do Trick or Treat houses reset?
Yes. The 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses can reset after time passes, so a long run can produce more than one interaction from the event structure. Do not assume a house is permanently finished just because you have already knocked once.
The reset does not make Halloween Candles irrelevant. Be prepared to activate houses again when the event state resets rather than treating one early Candle as permanent access for the rest of the run.
Best route through the ten houses
There is no universal numbered route for the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses because their useful order depends on your generated map. The fastest method is to mark or remember the houses you discover during daytime exploration, light them immediately and connect the nearest doors into one night route.
- Spend daytime looting chests and collecting Halloween Candles.
- Activate every Trick or Treat house you pass.
- Keep costume pieces for the night route.
- Return to camp if you need the Costume Closet.
- Start with the nearest lit house after dark.
- Move from one prepared house to the next instead of searching randomly at night.
The Black House and Dark Red House are often documented spawning close together, which can make the two Cultist residents an easy pair to include in one route. Beyond that, build around your actual map rather than following coordinates copied from another player’s seed.
House is lit but I cannot knock
If one of the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses is lit but the door is not responding, check the time first. Lighting can be done during the day; knocking is the night-time step.
If it is already night, make sure you are at one of the ten event houses and that the house is in an active state rather than waiting for its reset. Joining a fresh October 17 Halloween server can also fix a map that is missing the current event structures entirely.
What should you prioritise?
For the 99 Nights in the Forest Trick or Treat Houses, preparation is more important than chasing one specific resident. Candles determine how many houses you can activate, while costumes determine how efficiently those door visits turn into Candy.
If your goal is the 200-Candy Vampire Alpha Wolf, use every daytime cycle to gather Candles and matching costume pieces. The ten houses are your route, not ten separate quests that need to be completed in a special order.
