99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles are the key item for Trick or Treat Part 1 because every decorated house needs a Candle before you can knock on its door at night. You can find them in chests, get them from Cultists and earn them through Cultist Stronghold or Raid clears during the Halloween event.
The best way to use 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles is to collect several during the day, light multiple houses before darkness falls, then make one continuous Trick or Treat route at night. That is much faster than finding one Candle, waiting for night, knocking once and starting the whole search again.
How to get 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles

There are four established ways to get 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles during the Trick or Treat event:
- Open chests: ordinary map chests can contain Halloween Candles.
- Kill Cultists: Cultists have a chance to drop a Candle when defeated.
- Clear a Cultist Stronghold: Stronghold runs give you several chances at Candle drops while fighting through the Cultists inside.
- Finish Cultist Raids: surviving a Raid can also produce Halloween Candles from the Cultists and event rewards.
Chest and Cultist drops are random, so there is no fixed “pick up five Candles here” route. If you are already exploring for Costume Chests, open the normal chests you pass as well rather than making a separate trip just for Candles later.
Best way to farm Halloween Candles
For repeated 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles, Cultist-heavy areas are more useful than wandering between isolated chests. Every Cultist is another drop chance, and a Stronghold or Raid puts several of those chances into the same fight.
Do not ignore chest routes, though. Halloween 2026 also asks you to look for Costume Chests and costume-bearing enemies, so normal exploration can progress both sides of the event at once. A run where you return with three Candles and half a costume set is usually more useful than a pure Candle route that leaves you unable to earn the best Candy payout.
How to use a Halloween Candle on a house
Once you have 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles, look for one of the ten decorated Trick or Treat houses. Take a Candle to the front of the house and use it to finish the Halloween decoration. The house lights up when it is ready.
- Find a decorated Halloween house during the day.
- Bring one Halloween Candle to the entrance.
- Use the Candle at the house so its lights turn on.
- Keep exploring until night rather than waiting outside the same door.
- Return after dark and interact with the front door to knock.
Lighting can be prepared before night, while the actual knocking happens after dark. That is why collecting 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles early in the run is so useful: you can set up several houses while the forest is safer, then visit them in sequence once night begins.

Do you need a new Candle every time?
Each house activation consumes the Halloween Candle used on it. If you want to prepare five houses, bring five 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles. Houses can be used again after their event reset, but you should expect to need another Candle when you prepare another Trick or Treat visit.
That makes stockpiling worthwhile. A single Candle gets you one active house; several Candles turn the night into a proper route instead of one isolated interaction.
Do you need a costume as well?
Yes, if you want the normal Candy-farming route. 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles activate the house, while costumes affect the Trick or Treat reward. The two systems work together rather than replacing one another.
Current October 17 gameplay shows one Candy per equipped costume piece on a successful visit, with four pieces paying four Candy and a complete matching four-piece set adding another four for eight Candy per house. Knocking without a costume forces a Trick in current 2026 reporting, so lighting houses before finding any costume pieces is not a good farming plan.

Where are the ten Trick or Treat houses?
The event uses ten distinct decorated houses rather than one fixed Halloween village. Look for the seasonal house designs while exploring and use 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles on the ones that are still inactive.
The houses have different colours and residents, but you do not need a special Candle colour for each one. The important check is whether the house has already been activated and whether you can return safely after night begins.
What happens when you knock?
After using a Candle and returning at night, the resident rolls either a Treat or a Trick. Treats can include Candy, food, equipment or temporary positive effects. Tricks can cause short problems such as dropping carried items, movement penalties or visual effects.
The exact reward is not controlled by the 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles themselves. A Candle only makes the house available. Your costume setup and the random Trick or Treat result decide what happens after you knock.
Best Candle farming routine
- Loot chests and kill Cultists during the day.
- Keep every Halloween Candle you find.
- Collect costume pieces at the same time.
- Activate several decorated houses before night.
- Use the Costume Closet to assemble the best matching set you have.
- Visit the lit houses one after another after dark.
- Bank the Candy and repeat on the next run.
This approach makes 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles part of a single event loop instead of a separate grind. You are farming the Candle, the costume and the Candy route during the same run, which is much more efficient than treating each material as its own job.
Halloween Candle not working
If a Candle will not activate a house, first check that you are at one of the decorated Trick or Treat houses and that it has not already been prepared. Make sure your server is running the October 17 Halloween update rather than an older instance.
If the house is lit but you cannot knock, check the time. 99 Nights in the Forest Halloween Candles can prepare houses earlier, but the Trick or Treat interaction itself is a nighttime activity.
