99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet: How to Craft and Use It

99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet is the Halloween wardrobe you craft at camp to store costume pieces and change what your character wears for trick-or-treating. It costs just three Wood at a Tier 1 Crafting Bench during the 2026 event, so it’s one of the first useful seasonal items to make.

The Closet keeps your pieces organised while you collect matching sets. It’s also essential for the secret Fancy Dressing challenge, which asks you to wear four pieces from different costumes. Here’s how to craft the wardrobe, assemble a complete outfit and avoid using up a rare piece before you need it.

How to craft the 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet

Gather three Wood during a forest run and open the Tier 1 Crafting Bench. Choose the Costume Closet recipe from the Halloween options, craft it and place the wardrobe near your camp. The item is a purple-curtained closet rather than a portable inventory accessory.

If you can’t find the 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet recipe, make sure you’re playing a server with the current Halloween event. Look at the Crafting Bench, not Happy’s lobby shop: the wardrobe is a crafted item, not one of the opening Candy purchases.

How to use the Costume Closet

Open the wardrobe after placing it. You can manage collected costume pieces and select the parts you want to wear. Build a complete outfit using the matching head, body, leg and accessory slots from one costume theme. Check what your character has equipped before setting off to visit a house.

The 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet is particularly useful when your collection includes parts from several themes. A Lobster head, Mummy body, Dinosaur legs and Pirate hook can be worn together, but that mixed outfit won’t produce the full-set Candy bonus. For normal Candy farming, use four pieces from one theme.

Which six costumes can you store?

Costume Full-set requirement Why collect it?
Pirate Four matching Pirate pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress
Lobster Four matching Lobster pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress
Astronaut Four matching Astronaut pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress
Dinosaur Four matching Dinosaur pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress
Mummy Four matching Mummy pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress
Werewolf Four matching Werewolf pieces Eight-Candy normal Treat payout and Full Costuming progress

Finding every part isn’t guaranteed by opening one Costume Box. Loot is spread across event boxes, enemy drops and chest bonuses, so you’ll gradually build a collection. Our Costume Boxes guide explains the collection routes, while the costumes guide lists the themes.

How the 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet helps Candy farming

Every worn piece contributes to a successful Treat payout, with an extra bonus for all four matching pieces. A complete matching outfit normally pays eight Candy at a house, compared with four for four unrelated pieces. Storing and organising your pieces can therefore have a direct effect on how quickly you afford Happy’s shop rewards.

Trick-or-treating consumes equipped costume parts. The 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet helps you save spare pieces so you can change into another matching set before your next house visit. Don’t assume the wardrobe makes worn items reusable after they’re consumed.

How to complete Fancy Dressing using the Closet

The secret Fancy Dressing badge is different from ordinary Candy farming. Players report the combination Lobster head, Mummy body, Dinosaur legs and Pirate hook. Equip all four pieces through the wardrobe and visit an activated Halloween house at night.

The 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet is where you assemble that mixed outfit, but the badge is earned by trick-or-treating while wearing it, not by clicking four items in the wardrobe. Our Fancy Dressing walkthrough covers what to do if it doesn’t register.

Using the wardrobe for Full Costuming

Another badge asks you to visit a house in every complete costume before night 99. Put aside one matching set from each theme and tick them off after the interactions. The 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet makes it easier to avoid confusing outfits already used with pieces you still need.

Our Full Costuming badge guide gives a six-theme checklist. Don’t use a hard-to-find Pirate hook in a casual mixed visit if you’re still missing a full Pirate set or the secret Fancy Dressing combination.

Best placement at camp

Put the 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet near the Crafting Bench or other storage, leaving room for teammates to walk around it. You’ll frequently return during daylight to sort newly found parts and may want to change outfits just before sunset. A convenient wardrobe saves time when you’re preparing multiple houses for the same night.

If your team is working on Triple and Quad Trick or Treating, prepare enough complete sets well before nightfall. Those badges require three or four full-costume visits in a single night. The house guide explains how to activate and reach the doors.

Why the 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet might not work

If the wardrobe isn’t craftable, check the event state and available Wood. If a piece isn’t visible in its equipment slot, check whether it was already used at a house. Costume pieces are consumed by normal visits, so a part from your previous run may not be available now.

The 99 Nights in the Forest Costume Closet is tied to the Halloween event introduced on 17 October 2026. The original Part 1 listing ends on 24 October, but that’s not a confirmed removal date for every Halloween mechanic. Check the current event notice before assuming the wardrobe has stopped working.
