Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 is rolling out on 19 October 2026, bringing sharper visuals, adjustments to resolution and several bug fixes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered. As part of Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01, CD Projekt Red has also addressed crashes, strange Joy-Con 2 rumble behaviour and a number of gameplay problems affecting Geralt.
If the game looked blurry on Nintendo’s newer console or you encountered odd issues while travelling across the Continent, this update may be the one you’ve been waiting for. Here’s what the official patch notes confirm, including fixes shared with other versions of Remastered and the changes specifically designed for Switch 2.
When is Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 available?
To check manually on Switch 2, highlight The Witcher 3 on the HOME menu, press + or −, then choose Software Update → Via the Internet. Follow the installation prompt and allow the download to finish before loading your save. If you have the Japanese edition, CD Projekt Red says its rollout follows separate certification.
CD Projekt Red began rolling out Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 on Monday, 19 October 2026. The studio says the update should be available for download in most regions today. The Japanese version will receive the patch once its separate certification process has finished.
This release follows the 5.01 update that reached PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S earlier in October. The Switch 2 version has its own platform-specific fixes, including changes to image sharpness, mod caching and HD Rumble.
To install, use your console’s regular game-update process and let the download finish before loading your save. If your region has not received it yet, CD Projekt Red’s rollout statement is more useful than trying to force a version number that hasn’t appeared on your system.
Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 is available through the console’s software-update menu in regions where CD Projekt Red has completed its rollout.
Visual improvements: image sharpness and resolution
The biggest platform-specific change in Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 concerns image quality. CD Projekt Red adjusted resolution and sharpening in an effort to improve visual clarity and fidelity. This is particularly welcome in a game filled with fine foliage, detailed armour and landscapes where small differences in image processing can be noticeable.
The broader Remastered 5.01 changes also include adjustments to Bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, ray tracing and path tracing, alongside performance optimisations. Those are listed in the general patch notes. The dedicated Switch 2 section specifically singles out the resolution and image-sharpening work.
The patch notes don’t give a new fixed resolution figure or a guaranteed frame-rate target for Switch 2. You can expect the stated improvements, but avoid treating reports of a particular number as an official specification without measurements or confirmation.

Switch 2 fixes: crashes, mods and Joy-Con 2
Alongside the visual work, Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 fixes a rare crash when moving between in-game regions. The developer has also optimised cache handling used by Cross-Platform Mod Support, which may help reduce issues related to that feature.
One of the stranger fixes concerns HD Rumble. Previously, rumble while climbing a ladder could be felt only through the left Joy-Con 2. The patch corrects that behaviour, so the controller feedback should no longer be oddly one-sided in that situation.
Map users get a smaller but welcome improvement: the game no longer allows pins to be placed on the black bars around the map. It’s the sort of bug that rarely makes a headline but is frustrating when you’re trying to mark a destination.
Gameplay changes in patch 5.01
The shared gameplay fixes in Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 cover everything from movement to combat skills. Automatically Apply Blade Oils should now keep working properly rather than requiring you to enable it again during the current session. There is also a fix for boats that could move uncontrollably and pass through terrain under particular circumstances.
Geralt’s movement has received attention too. The update adjusts delayed dodge responses, ladder-interaction animations and an issue in which sprinting and dodging at the same time could empty his Stamina. Aard finishers should no longer leave Geralt colliding with defeated enemies, and Vesemir should stop repeating an unwanted line after multiple Quen casts.
On the skill side, CD Projekt Red has corrected the displayed Synergy bonus and added damage reflection to Exploding Shield. A separate fix stops bombs being thrown when the relevant setting has been disabled. Taken together, these changes make Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 useful for gameplay consistency, not just graphics.

Audio and interface issues addressed
CD Projekt Red confirms that its quiet-voiceover fix is now implemented on consoles. The issue could cause speech to become much quieter than the rest of the game after moving through tabs in the pause menu. That fix should make conversations more consistent for players affected by the bug.
The UI receives several smaller repairs. A notification about gaining an ability point could remain stuck on screen, input prompts briefly flashed in the meditation interface, and the Potions tutorial sometimes failed to appear when opening the Consumables tab. Those issues have been addressed, alongside misaligned progress bars.
Anyone who previously encountered unusually quiet speech can also check our Witcher 3 Remastered console audio guide for the affected scenarios.
Other fixes: saves, rewards and foliage
Witcher 3 Switch 2 patch 5.01 includes measures to address save-data problems, including some files that may already have been affected. The notes don’t claim every possible save issue is resolved, but they explicitly mention a fix and measures intended to help previously affected data.
There is also a fix for missing My Rewards, Twitch and Bilibili rewards in the Vizima chest when it had previously been opened. CD Projekt Red says that resolving the problem may result in some duplicated items. Foliage collision reactions have been fixed, and Ukrainian text localisation is now available in all regions.
Because of backend issues, the policy consent screen will appear again and you’ll need to confirm your choices. This doesn’t mean your game has been reset; it’s a separate consent prompt mentioned by the developer.
