The Forge Best Pickaxes: Locations, Prices and Upgrade Route

The Forge Best Pickaxes for beginners are the upgrades at Miner Fred in Stonewake’s Cross, particularly Gold and Platinum once you can afford them. In Forgotten Kingdom, Cobalt and Titanium provide the mining power needed to collect better ores. Pickaxe power, luck, speed and rune slots all affect how useful a tool is.

Your first goal is a pickaxe powerful enough for the rocks you can reach, not an expensive endgame tool. Spending all your money on one upgrade can leave you unable to forge a weapon for the next region. Here’s a buying route, reported prices and where to look for the special pickaxes outside the normal shop.

The Forge Best Pickaxes

The Forge Best Pickaxes in Stonewake’s Cross

Begin with the free Stone Pickaxe and visit Miner Fred for Bronze, around $150, or Iron, $500. Iron has approximately ten mining power and a small luck bonus. Gold is commonly listed at $1,500 with sixteen mining power, 15% luck and one rune slot. That makes it a useful first serious upgrade when you’re targeting Rock and Boulder nodes rather than just Pebbles.

The Forge Best Pickaxes: Is Platinum worth buying?

Platinum has a standard price of $5,000, reduced to $4,400 with the Goblin discount. It has 24 mining power, approximately 25% luck and two rune slots. Those slots make it useful beyond its basic power because you can equip compatible mining runes. The $4,400 figure is the discounted price, not the standard one. Confirm that the discount applies to your character before budgeting for an upgrade.

The Forge Best Pickaxes: Forgotten Kingdom costs

The second region has its own Miner Fred. Common prices are Cobalt at $10,000, Titanium at $22,500, Uranium at $37,500 and Mythril at $67,500. Their reported mining powers are roughly 40, 55, 67 and 80 respectively. If you’re trying to break tougher Basalt Rocks, the cheapest tool that handles your target efficiently is often a smarter purchase than saving for Mythril while struggling with weaker nodes.

How luck and mining speed differ

The Forge Best Pickaxes are more than power numbers. Mining power determines how well you damage rock; luck affects rare ore chances; and speed reduces the time each node takes. Rune slots add further bonuses once you have runes. A slightly lower-power pickaxe with useful speed can outperform another when you are farming many compatible nodes. Check the shop tooltip for all the attributes, including any negative speed effect.

Special pickaxes and their unlocks

Arcane is a hidden pickaxe associated with a cave unlock in Stonewake’s Cross and is commonly recorded at around 115 mining power with three rune slots. Follow the cave route and check the actual access requirement rather than expecting it in Miner Fred’s ordinary stock. Magma appears in more advanced Forgotten Kingdom progression at roughly $150,000, while some guides mention special access around Ashen Passage. Lightite offers higher power and a mining-speed effect. For The Forge Best Pickaxes, three rune slots can make a tool more appealing than a slightly stronger pickaxe with fewer sockets.

When to skip an upgrade

If you have enough money for a tool that opens the next rock tier, you may not need to buy every pickaxe between your current one and that goal. But skipping too far can make current farming painfully slow. Assess how quickly you break the ore nodes you need now and what the next tool changes. Your pickaxe is an investment in ore income, not just another item to collect.

What if you can’t mine a node?

Check whether your equipped pickaxe meets the rock’s mining requirement. If it doesn’t, buy a stronger tool from the miner in the relevant region. If it does, look at speed and rune bonuses before assuming the node is broken. The Forge Best Pickaxes in higher worlds can cost hundreds of thousands or millions, so funding them through lower-tier ore sales and better forging usually makes more sense than forcing late-game mining immediately.

Our published The Forge codes guide covers promotional rerolls that may help mining race bonuses, with the older code archive identifying expired offers. The strongest upgrade is the one that lets you mine the next rock type profitably. Keep some cash for crafting materials rather than buying a tool you cannot yet make use of.
