Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability arrived with the Lost Island update on 4 November 2026. It’s a delayed missile attack that automatically locks onto the nearest player ahead of you, then Stumbles anyone caught in the impact area. You don’t need to aim a rocket manually.
You can still run and dodge while the missile travels, and the blast can catch several players at once. The Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability is also permitted in Ranked Season 28, so knowing how it chooses a target is useful beyond ordinary races.
How to use the Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability
First, make sure the Ability is equipped in one of your loadout slots. The game’s current Ability controls are accessible from the main menu alongside your Stumbler, so you can inspect and manage your loadout before entering a match. Once you have Cat Splat equipped, activate it while there is another player in front of you.
Epic’s patch notes aren’t involved here: Stumble Guys says Cat Splat targets the nearest player ahead. You cannot manually choose a different target. If three opponents are ahead, it picks the closest one, not necessarily the race leader. Your own position determines who can be targeted.
The missile lands after a short delay. Carry on through the course while it approaches; stopping to watch the rocket only puts you at a disadvantage. Players inside the blast area are Stumbled, so tightly packed groups are natural opportunities to disrupt several rivals with one well-timed activation.

Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability: What does upgrading change?
Stumble Guys gives Cat Splat three improvement categories: Cooldown, Stumble Strength and Area of Effect. Cooldown is about how quickly the Ability can be used again; Stumble Strength concerns the impact on affected players; Area of Effect governs how much space the missile’s blast covers.
Stumble Guys cut its general Ability upgrade system from 15 levels to nine in update 0.100, and uses Ability Tokens for upgrades. That earlier change is separate from Cat Splat’s arrival in 0.104. The November notes name Cat Splat’s three upgrade stats, but do not publish the token cost of each level.
If you want to compare progress, look at Cat Splat’s own stat display rather than borrowing prices or timings from an older guide to Punch or Pollo Stick. The official Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability announcement names its three stats, but doesn’t publish exact cooldown seconds, impact strength values or blast-radius measurements for each upgrade.
How do you unlock the Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability?
Cat Splat is included in update 0.104.0, but the release announcement doesn’t establish a unique shop price, free event code or special unlock task for it. In the general Ability system, Ability Keys are used to unlock abilities and Ability Tokens improve unlocked ones. Check Cat Splat’s card in your own Ability menu for the current unlock requirement.
Being listed as a permitted Ranked Ability isn’t the same as receiving it as a reward. Ranked Season 28 allows Cat Splat alongside Briefcase, Snowball, Shield, Slide, Slap, Sticky Bomb, Hat Hop, Dice Roll and Pollo Stick. It doesn’t say joining a Ranked match grants you Cat Splat, so treat ownership and tournament availability as separate questions.

Tips for aiming the Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability in races and eliminations
Because Cat Splat chooses the nearest player ahead, your positioning matters more than trying to move a crosshair. If you want to pressure somebody in particular, get close enough that they are the nearest rival in front before activating. A clustered pack can be a good moment to fire because the area effect reaches beyond the first target.
The delay also means it isn’t a guaranteed instant knockdown. In a race, keep moving after you press the Ability and let the missile do its work. In an elimination round, use the moment to get to safer ground instead of standing still to watch. The missile still has a delay, so a badly timed launch is not guaranteed to catch anyone.
Can you use the Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability while matchmaking?
The same Lost Island update adds a new 3D Matchmaking Area where waiting players can move, emote and activate Abilities. That’s separate from the competitive advantage you get from Cat Splat during the actual round. The waiting room keeps finding a match while you move around; it isn’t a new tournament or an alternative way to earn the Ranked skin.
With the Stumble Guys Cat Splat ability, watch your position before pressing the button and keep moving until the rocket hits. For upgrades, check the in-game stat display, since that’s where the current numbers appear. If Cat Splat is missing, start with the game’s Ability menu and make sure the game is updated to version 0.104.0.
