How to unlock the Coin Bag with Scarlet or Violet
The Coin Bag comes from connecting Pokémon GO to a Nintendo Switch running Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. Sending a Postcard for the first time unlocks the bag. You cannot substitute Pokémon HOME or Pokémon Let’s Go; those are ways to obtain the separate Meltan Mystery Box.

A Roaming Form Gimmighoul caught during Pokémon GO Shiny Gimmighoul November 2026 evolves into Gholdengo using 999 Gimmighoul Coins. You can get coins from catching Gimmighoul, walking with it as your Buddy and interacting with relevant Golden PokéStops. Those coins aren’t needed to start a Coin Bag, so you can search for a Shiny first and work on evolving it later.

Coin Bag preparation before November 9

Pair Pokémon GO to a Nintendo Switch running Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, open the Postcard Book, and use Send to Nintendo Switch from a saved Postcard.
