Are Pokémon GO Featured Attacks Not Working?

The Pokémon GO featured attacks not working issue has now been fixed.

Pokémon GO’s official Help Center states that some Pokémon did not learn their featured attacks as expected during the PokémonXP and 2026 Pokémon World Championships event.

The issue status is currently listed as:

Resolved

Pokémon GO also states that Trainers whose Pokémon were affected should contact in-game support.

That means Pokémon evolved now should receive their eligible featured attacks normally while the event bonus remains active.

What Happened With the PokémonXP Featured Attacks?

When the event began in the earliest time zones, Trainers reported evolving eligible Pokémon but not receiving the featured moves advertised for the event.

Reports included Pokémon such as Alolan Sandslash and Walrein, with further reports involving Inteleon, Lickilicky and Hydreigon.

The problem was not caused by Trainers evolving the wrong Pokémon or missing the event window. Pokémon GO later acknowledged that some Pokémon were simply failing to learn their featured attacks correctly.

PokémonXP runs until August 28 at 10:00 a.m. local time, followed immediately by the 2026 Pokémon World Championships portion of the event.

The featured attack bonus spans the wider celebration rather than ending when PokémonXP finishes.

Can Old Pokémon Get the Featured Attacks?

Yes. Eligible Pokémon do not need to have been caught during PokémonXP.

For Pokémon whose featured attack is obtained through evolution, a Pokémon already stored in your collection can be evolved during the eligible event window.

For example, an existing Metang can be evolved into Metagross to receive Meteor Mash, while an existing Zweilous can be evolved into Hydreigon to receive Brutal Swing.

The key requirement is that the eligible evolution takes place while the featured attack bonus is active.

Can You Use a Regular TM to Get the Featured Attacks?

The featured moves are primarily being distributed through eligible catches or evolutions during the event.

The event announcement does not state that regular Fast TMs or Charged TMs can be used to teach these featured attacks.

For Pokémon that normally require an Elite TM outside featured-move events, evolving them during the PokémonXP and Worlds event provides an opportunity to obtain the move without spending an Elite TM.

Pokémon GO Featured Attacks Not Working Issue Is Resolved

The important point for anyone finding Pokémon GO featured attacks not working is that Pokémon GO has acknowledged the problem and marked it as resolved.

The issue occurred during the opening period of the PokémonXP and 2026 Pokémon World Championships event, when some eligible Pokémon failed to learn their advertised featured attacks.

Trainers affected by the bug can contact in-game support, while featured attacks should now apply normally to eligible Pokémon throughout the remaining event window.
