Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally will not take place during the rescheduled October 24 and October 25 event. Niantic explicitly confirms that there will be no Boston GO Stamp Rally as part of the replacement gameplay, so the original eight-stamp route and nine Explorer zones are no longer an October objective.
The cancellation of the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally does not remove Explorer Hat Eevee from Boston ticket-holder compensation. Instead, Niantic is providing supplementary Special Research with Boston PokéStop tasks and up to nine Explorer Hat Eevee encounters carrying a Boston Location Background.
Is the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally happening?
No. The Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally is cancelled for the rescheduled gameplay. Niantic’s update uses unusually direct wording: there will be no Boston GO Stamp Rally as part of this gameplay experience.
That means old instructions about collecting eight stamps per day, visiting orange stamp PokéStops and pressing stamps onto the sheet do not apply to October 24 or 25.
What happened to the nine Eevee Explorer zones?
The nine original areas were designed to support the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally during the September in-person event. They included Beacon Hill, North End, Back Bay, Financial District, Seaport, Fenway-Kenmore, Black Heritage Trail, Cambridge and Charlestown, and Malden.
Those locations remain real parts of Boston, but they are no longer an October stamp route. Do not travel between them expecting the cancelled City Safari stamp mechanic to activate.
How do you get Explorer Hat Eevee now?
Instead of the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally, qualifying current ticket holders receive supplementary Special Research. The research requires spinning PokéStops in Boston and can award up to nine Explorer Hat Eevee with a Boston Location Background.
Niantic says one Special Research opportunity is available per ticketed day. That new system is the relevant Boston-specific Eevee method after the weather disruption.
Can you get the research without being in Boston?
Yes. You can obtain the research that replaces the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally while located anywhere in the world, provided you are an eligible current ticket holder and log in during the stated claim period.
The claim window runs from October 24, 2026 through October 23, 2028. The research tasks themselves still require Boston PokéStops, so claiming and completing are separate steps.
What replaces the original City Safari Special Research?
The event research attached to the rescheduled weekend is separate from the cancelled Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally. The original Special Research becomes Timed Research awarding Orange Flower Flabébé, Hawlucha, Mudbray and Komala encounters plus branching weekend bonuses.
This Timed Research is part of the October 24 and 25 replacement gameplay for current ticket holders, while the Boston Eevee research uses a longer Special Research structure.
Do you need to go to Boston on October 24 or 25?
No. Losing the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally is part of a larger change where the main event bonuses and wild encounters now work globally for ticket holders.
You only need Boston access when you want to progress the supplementary Explorer Hat Eevee research that requires local PokéStops. There is no reason to travel there specifically for an October stamp sheet.
What about old Stamp Rally screenshots and maps?
Old screenshots of the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally are now historical material from the cancelled September format. They can still explain what Niantic originally intended, but they do not show an activity that will be live during the rescheduled weekend.
If a route planner or video tells you to visit eight Boston stamp locations on October 24, check its publication date. The official reschedule supersedes the old plan.
Can the Stamp Rally return later?
Niantic only states that the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally will not be part of this rescheduled gameplay experience. That does not establish a permanent rule for every future Boston or City Safari event.
For October 2026, however, there is no announced Boston Stamp Rally. Plan around the global ticket-holder event and supplementary Special Research instead.
Refund option
If the loss of the Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally changes your decision about the ticket, Niantic allows refund requests through in-app support before October 20 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Refunded Trainers cannot participate in the replacement event, and refunded tickets cannot be repurchased later.
Boston Stamp Rally summary
Pokémon GO City Safari Boston Stamp Rally is not happening on October 24 or 25. The old eight-stamp route, stamp sheet and Explorer-zone planning should be removed from current Boston advice.
Current ticket holders instead get global event gameplay, replacement Timed Research and a separate Boston Special Research route for up to nine location-background Explorer Hat Eevee encounters.
