NTE Volley Star Multiplayer is live in Version 1.4, finally adding multiplayer support to the beach-volleyball Hethereau Hobby introduced in Version 1.3. The original activity was built around 2v2 matches with an AI-controlled partner, while the September 30 update opens the mode to multiplayer play.
The important requirement for NTE Volley Star Multiplayer is that you still need access to Volley Star itself. If you never unlocked the hobby during Version 1.3, complete the Beat On, the Heart of Summer side quest first and then return to the Volley Star activity on the updated 1.4 client.
How to play NTE Volley Star Multiplayer with friends

- Update NTE to Version 1.4 or later.
- Unlock Volley Star by completing Beat On, the Heart of Summer if you have not already done so.
- Add the player you want to play with through NTE’s Friends system.
- Open Volley Star from Hethereau Hobbies.
- Choose the multiplayer or player-match option shown by the current Volley Star interface.
- Form or join the multiplayer session and confirm the match when both players are ready.
Perfect World confirms multiplayer support but does not publish a full button-by-button menu route in the patch notes. If a menu label differs by platform or language, use the multiplayer entry inside the live Volley Star activity rather than an older Version 1.3 guide that only shows the AI-partner format.
NTE Volley Star Multiplayer: How to unlock Volley Star before using multiplayer
Volley Star originally arrived in Version 1.3 as a permanent Hethereau Hobby. The unlock route uses the Beat On, the Heart of Summer side quest, after which the Rookie Series and other Volley Star content become available.
If NTE Volley Star Multiplayer is missing entirely, check that the base hobby is unlocked before troubleshooting the new networking feature. Version 1.4 adds multiplayer to the existing activity rather than creating a separate new volleyball location.
How Volley Star matches work
Volley Star is a 2v2 beach-volleyball activity. Matches use character-specific volleyball aptitudes such as Serve, Spike, Pass, Receive, Block and Dig, so character choice affects how comfortable each role feels.
The basic scoring target is seven points with a two-point lead. That rule matters more with human partners because positioning and deciding who covers each part of the court can prevent both players from chasing the same ball.
Can you still play Volley Star without friends?
Yes. Version 1.4 adds multiplayer support to an activity that already worked with AI teammates and opponents. The existing solo structure is still useful for learning timing, unlocking characters and spending City Stamina.
That also gives you a low-pressure place to test Serve, Spike and Receive timing before moving into NTE Volley Star Multiplayer sessions.
Does Volley Star use City Stamina?
Volley Star is a Hethereau Hobby and its established modes use City Stamina. That makes the activity part of the wider City Tycoon economy as well as a sports minigame.
Complete matches rather than quitting midway if you are playing for progression. Previous Volley Star rules do not award the normal activity rewards for abandoning a match before it finishes.
NTE Volley Star Multiplayer not showing
Confirm the September 30 Version 1.4 update is installed, then fully restart the game and reopen Volley Star. The multiplayer option did not exist in the previous global build, so an old client or suspended session can leave you looking at the Version 1.3 interface.
Also make sure the underlying hobby is unlocked. If you can enter normal Volley Star but cannot see the new multiplayer route on a fully updated client, check the official service notices before assuming your account has lost access.
Best way to play Volley Star with a friend
Decide which player will cover short receives and which will prepare for spikes instead of both moving toward every ball. Volley Star’s six aptitude stats make some characters naturally better at particular parts of a rally.
NTE Volley Star Multiplayer should be easier to coordinate once both players understand the existing Rookie Series rules, so a few solo matches remain useful even after the multiplayer feature has arrived.
Perfect World confirms multiplayer support was added to Volley Star in the official Version 1.4 patch notes.
