Lucky Locator Fortnite guarantees a buried Sprite Chest containing a Sprite you have not collected. It does not look for a Sprite that is already in your collection but has not yet been mastered. Collection and mastery use different counters in Fortnite. The Lucky Locator helps you fill collection gaps.
The Gizmo marks a buried Chest when you activate it in Battle Royale. Claim one through Sprite Mastery rewards or during the October 27–31 Final Spritemare, which gives a Locator through each daily login Quest. Once you have one, prepare for a safe run to the marked Chest and an extraction afterwards.
What the Lucky Locator guarantees

In Fortnite, the Lucky Locator is an Extraction Gizmo. It reveals a buried Sprite Chest that is guaranteed to hold an uncollected Sprite variant, according to Epic’s July 30 announcement. It does not guarantee an Exotic or rare Sprite, and you cannot specify which missing design you’ll find. If you already own a base Sprite but have never collected its Gold form, those are separate entries.
How to unlock the Lucky Locator
For the Chapter 7 Season 4 Mastery-track version, open the Sprites menu in the lobby and inspect the Rewards page. The current Season 4 reward guide lists one at 35 mastered Sprites. Collect that milestone reward if it is available on your account. The item is not a normal floor-loot weapon, and its mastery-track reward is not repeatedly claimable.
Five free Lucky Locators: October 27–31
From October 27 to 31, you can earn a Lucky Locator Fortnite from the daily login Quest during Final Spritemare. The new daily bonuses begin at 1 PM GMT. Enter Fortnite, open the Quests page and finish that day’s login objective. Five event days give you the chance to claim five Locators in total. Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 have separate daily Quests, so claim each reward on its own event day.
How to use it and extract your Sprite
To activate the Lucky Locator Fortnite, enter an unranked Battle Royale or Zero Build match, equip it from your Gizmo Wheel and use the activation control shown for your platform. Follow the marked buried Chest, break into it with your pickaxe and collect the Sprite. Extraction is a separate step: reach an extraction point or use a Portable Extractor to bank the Sprite safely.
Collected is not the same as mastered
A Sprite can be collected without being mastered. For example, you may have extracted a Gold variant once, but still need XP and additional matches to master it. The Lucky Locator Fortnite will not guarantee another copy of that Gold variant simply because it is unmastered. For XP, keep using the Sprite in matches, extract duplicates and take advantage of Final Spritemare’s double Sprite XP bonuses.
Lucky Locator versus Sprite Locator
The standard Sprite Locator and Lucky Locator Fortnite both locate buried Sprite Chests. The difference is the reward: a normal Locator can point to a duplicate, while Lucky guarantees a missing collection entry. Neither item automatically raises a Sprite’s mastery level, unlocks the Pixel Polli style or completes your full collection for you.
Best way to use a Locator

Before consuming a Lucky Locator Fortnite, check the collection list and compare it against the 162 Sprite pictures. Equip weapons, shields and mobility before activating, and allow enough time to reach and extract the Sprite. Locators do not remove the danger of other players or a closing Storm. They also cannot give you a particular variant of your choosing.
Why a claimed Locator is missing
If your Lucky Locator Fortnite does not appear, make sure you’ve claimed the Mastery or daily login reward rather than merely satisfying the requirement. Check the Gizmo Wheel instead of the normal weapon slots. A Locator you already activated has been used. For Final Spritemare, verify the 1 PM GMT changeover and the day’s Quest before assuming the bonus is missing.
Does it expire on November 1?
The Override season changes on November 1. Use your Lucky Locator Fortnite rewards before the transition, and check the Gizmo Wheel’s expiration timer rather than relying on a guessed closing hour. The season-end guide tracks the known deadlines, and Portable Extractors can help you bank a newly found Sprite.
