That makes the Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes far broader than a simple weapon update.

New Fortnite Sprites September 3

The update adds four new Sprite types:

  • X-Ray Sprite
  • Onigiri Sprite
  • Mega Man Sprite
  • Overshield Sprite

X-Ray periodically marks nearby enemies, making it an information-focused Sprite.

Onigiri activates Overdrive after the player eats or drinks, giving it a movement and recovery-focused role.

Mega Man reduces friction while sliding and swimming, allowing players to travel farther with momentum.

Overshield increases the amount of Overshield available based on Sprite level.

These four replace the pre-release expectation of a smaller three-Sprite drop and make the September 3 update one of the more substantial Sprite additions of Chapter 7 Season 4.

Fortnite Action Hero Override

The Action Hero Override is one of the three new Match Overrides added in v42.10.

While mid-air, aiming a weapon activates Hangtime and increases damage.

This makes Action Hero a direct combat modifier, rewarding players for attacking while airborne rather than staying grounded.

It joins Big Head Mode and Prop Hunt as part of the Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes.

Fortnite Big Head Mode

Fortnite Big Heads Override
Fortnite Big Heads Override

Big Head Mode gives players oversized heads during Battle Royale matches.

The effect is primarily visual but can make players considerably easier to spot, especially when trying to hide behind narrow pieces of cover.

Big Head Mode is now part of the Match Override pool rather than existing only as a separate gimmick mode.

Fortnite Prop Hunt Override

Prop Hunt is now available through the Override system.

The effect lets players crouch and remain still long enough to transform into environmental props, allowing them to blend into the surroundings.

That brings one of Fortnite’s most recognisable Creative mechanics directly into Battle Royale.

Fortnite September 3 Loot Hacks

The live Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes confirm a different Loot Hack lineup from the pre-release list.

The active September 3 Loot Hacks are:

Loot Hack itemType
Caduceus StaffUtility
Scorpion’s Combat KitCombat item
Wrecker RevolverHandgun
Deadeye Assault RifleAssault rifle
Holo Twister Assault RifleAssault rifle

Tracking Visor, Banana of the Gods and Rocket Ram are not part of the active September 3 rotation.

The Loot Hack rarity range has also changed. Hacked weapons now appear from Rare to Legendary rather than Epic to Mythic.

Sweeper Shotgun rework

The Sweeper Shotgun has returned with a substantial rework.

Sweeper Shotgun
FORTNITE FORTWEAPONRANGEDITEMDEFINITION

Sweeper Shotgun

Semi-Automatic. Fast-firing shotgun with a wide pellet spread. Good for dealing with multiple targets or landing easier shots at short range.

The weapon now uses a standard shotgun spread, fires faster and allows players to interrupt the reload once shells have been loaded.

The trade-off is a slightly smaller magazine and shorter maximum range.

The rework gives the Sweeper a more conventional shotgun feel while keeping its identity as a fast-firing option.

Pump Shotgun buff

The Pump Shotgun received a small but useful buff.

Pump Shotgun
FORTNITE SHOTGUN

Pump Shotgun

The classic pump-action Fortnite shotgun. It fires slowly but deals heavy close-range damage and reloads one shell at a time.

Damage has been increased slightly and the weapon now equips faster.

That makes the Pump more responsive in close-range fights and improves its effectiveness when swapping between weapons.

8-Bit Shotgun nerf

The 8-Bit Shotgun has been adjusted in both directions.

Its damage has been reduced, but the weapon now equips faster.

That means players lose some raw damage output but gain better handling when switching weapons during a fight.

Assault Rifle nerf

The standard Assault Rifle received several nerfs in the Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes.

Epic reduced the headshot damage multiplier, slightly reduced Mythic damage and increased reload time.

The Assault Rifle remains a strong general-purpose weapon, but it now has less burst potential and slightly worse sustained performance.

Mega Buster buff

The Mega Buster received another buff.

Projectile speed has been increased, making moving targets easier to hit and reducing the amount of lead required on longer-range shots.

That change improves consistency without altering the weapon’s core damage model.

New Fortnite Admin Panel codes September 3

Three new Admin Panel codes are live following the update:

CodeReward
INVALIDCHEAT2 Cheat Code Locators
ChatWhereDoYouFindTheKeyExtraction Accelerators
YourThoughtsAreMine5,000 Sprite Dust

INVALIDCHEAT is especially notable because Epic directly referenced the previously invalid code becoming usable in the v42.10 update.

The YourThoughtsAreMine code is tied to a hidden Geno-related interaction before the reward becomes available.

Fortnite Sprite Mastery changes

The Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes also expand Sprite Mastery.

Mastered Sprites now cost 50% less Sprite Dust to resummon, making fully levelled Sprites considerably cheaper to bring back into later matches.

A new Sprite Mastery reward track has also been added, giving players another reason to continue levelling and mastering Sprites rather than stopping once they are collected.

The mastery system is also building towards an arcade-themed Back Bling arriving in v42.20.

Fortnite Power Hours September 5

The next Power Hours event takes place on September 5.

The event focuses on Cheat Master Sprites, giving players increased opportunities to find the special variants during the active windows.

That makes September 5 particularly useful for collectors who are still missing Cheat Master entries after the September 3 Sprite expansion.

Mastery Mondays return September 7

Mastery Mondays return on September 7.

These events are designed around Sprite progression and mastery rather than simply finding new Sprites.

Combined with the new Mastery reward track and cheaper resummons, the return of Mastery Mondays gives players another reason to actively level their collection.

Fortnite OG Season X begins

The September 3 update also launches Fortnite OG Season X.

The new OG season brings back major Chapter 1 content including the B.R.U.T.E., Automatic Sniper Rifle, Junk Rift and Rift Zones.

Pandora returns at launch, while Gotham City and its Batman Mythics are expected later during the season.

The OG Season X Pass also introduces remixed versions of Ultima Knight, X-Lord and Catalyst.

Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes for Loot Hacks

One of the biggest system-level changes is the Loot Hack rarity reduction.

Loot Hacks previously produced Epic through Mythic weapons, but v42.10 changes the range to Rare through Legendary.

Epic made the adjustment because Loot Hacks were providing too many extremely powerful weapons too frequently.

Sprite Dust invested in the current Loot Hack selection can still be redistributed freely within that set.

Are the Fortnite September 3 patch notes live now?

Yes. The Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes are live following the v42.10 update.

Players can now encounter the new Sprites, activate Action Hero, Big Head Mode and Prop Hunt, use the revised Loot Hack pool and test the weapon balance changes.

The Sweeper Shotgun is back, Mega Buster and Pump Shotgun are stronger, the Assault Rifle and 8-Bit Shotgun have been toned down, and the Sprite Mastery system has expanded.

Between those Battle Royale changes and the launch of OG Season X, the Fortnite September 3 patch notes and changes make v42.10 one of the biggest updates of Chapter 7 Season 4 so far.
