Fortnite Global Power Rankings Explained: PR Calculation and Bonuses

Fortnite Global Power Rankings are Epic Games’ official worldwide skill ratings for competitive Battle Royale and Reload. They use an Elo-style calculation based on your best 20 tournament performances, with the strength of opponents, event importance, time decay and Ranked bonuses taken into account. The leaderboard updates weekly, usually on Thursday.

That means PR isn’t a pile of points you collect simply by entering tournaments. Beating strong opponents in an important event can be worth more than placing similarly in a smaller cup. Here’s exactly what Epic says goes into the rating, which tournaments count and how to check your position.

Fortnite Global Power Rankings: How the rating works

  1. Epic assigns a raw performance rating for how well you did against that tournament’s field.
  2. It multiplies the performance by an event weight, so major competitions count more.
  3. It applies time decay to older performances.
  4. Only your best 20 tournament results are retained for the PR calculation.
  5. The results are combined into an Elo-style rating.
  6. Bonuses from Battle Royale Ranked and Reload Ranked are added.

The complete internal Elo formula isn’t published as a simple points-per-placement chart. A finish depends on the strength of the field, not just a fixed conversion from first or tenth place into PR. The process above is the official public explanation, so avoid treating third-party calculations as guaranteed exact figures.

Which tournaments count for Fortnite Global Power Rankings?

Event typePR weight
Shop Cups, Ranked Cups, OG Cups×0.8
Cash Cups, Victory Cups, Division Cups×1.0
Division Cup Finals, FNCS Heats, Solo Series Final×1.2
FNCS Major Finals, Reload Elite Championship×1.4
Global Championship, Summit Final×1.6

Those multipliers are examples from Epic’s official weighting chart. The same raw performance can produce a different rating depending on the event’s class. A Cash Cup receives a 1.0 multiplier, whereas an FNCS Heat receives 1.2 and a Global Championship 1.6. Most eligible Battle Royale and Reload tournaments can contribute; low-tier events aren’t automatically worthless.

Only the best twenty weighted, decayed performances make the calculation. If you already have twenty stronger tournament results, placing poorly in another cup doesn’t displace them. That is why playing an additional event cannot directly reduce the best-20 component, although your rating may fall later as older performances decay.

Fortnite Global Power Rankings: When results decay

Epic retains a result’s full performance value for its first 180 days. After that, it gradually decays, reaching zero after 720 days. This ensures that a strong result from two years ago can’t permanently hold a player above someone performing well now.

The weekly update usually occurs on Thursday, but a fresh tournament result might not show instantly. Your rating can go down even without playing badly because older results lose value. Ranked season resets can also affect the bonus included in the overall rating.

Fortnite Global Power Rankings: Does Unreal help?

Yes. Epic adds a Ranked bonus from each mode: Battle Royale Ranked and Reload Ranked. The bonus increases through the divisions and reaches 1,000 PR for Unreal in a mode. If you have Unreal in both modes, those two bonuses can stack, but they don’t turn your Ranked level into an automatic high global position.

Other examples from Epic’s chart are 400 for Elite 1, 600 for Champion 1 and 800 for Champion 3. These are bonuses added to tournament-derived PR, not the raw rating of a tournament. You can therefore improve your rating through Ranked without replacing your best twenty competitive results.

Find your Fortnite Global Power Rankings position

Visit Epic’s official Fortnite Competitive Power Rankings page and search for your player name. Read the PR Position column for your worldwide place and PR Rating for the score. The site also allows players to pin and compare several accounts. Check the latest update date before interpreting changes.

Position matters for tournament entry. For example, November’s FNCS Solos Reload requires an overall top-200,000 PR position for Round 1, while the top 1,000 can skip straight to Round 2. The rule refers to leaderboard ranking, not a requirement to obtain 200,000 PR rating points. See our Reload Global PR requirements guide for that event-specific cutoff.

The Fortnite Global Power Rankings rating reflects both tournament performance and Ranked bonuses, but tournament eligibility can depend on your global position rather than the score itself. Look at the rank column when checking whether a competition is unlocked.
