Version 0.8.5 launched on 28 October with new styles, weapon skins, badges and Classic mode improvements. The Swamp skin is a reward for surviving the track, while the update also brings a separate selection of limited cosmetics to the Shop.
When does Defend The Train Halloween 2026 end?
The developer confirms Friday 27 November 2026 as the event’s end date. It doesn’t give an exact closing hour, so complete any Swamp attempts before the final day if you want to avoid missing the deadline.
The Swamp skin isn’t added to your collection as soon as you finish a run. Banded Top Hat Games says the reward goes out after Halloween ends, so the survival requirement and the delivery date are two separate parts of the event.
How to earn the Swamp skin in Defend The Train Halloween 2026
Swamp is a limited-time track in Endless mode. To qualify for the bonus skin, you must finish the track alive. Visiting Swamp or being eliminated before completion won’t meet the condition.
Endless is the mode where you defend a moving train against wave after wave of enemies. Swamp belongs to Endless, not Classic. The new Classic boosts and camos are separate additions in the same Halloween update.
The developer hasn’t named the reward skin or published a complete Swamp route in these notes. There’s no separate badge requirement attached to the skin. For Defend The Train Halloween 2026, the confirmed objective is to complete the seasonal track and survive.

The Halloween Shop also has a new selection of limited cosmetics. Prices and individual unlock methods aren’t listed in the official changelog, so check the in-game Shop for the items you’re interested in. The post-event Swamp reward is a separate prize.
Halloween 2026 and Historian are the new badges. Halloween 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024 badges were reissued in version 0.8.4 earlier in October. Those older badges are separate from the Swamp reward introduced for Defend The Train Halloween 2026.
What changed in Classic mode?
Classic gets boosts, camos and its own lobby in 0.8.5, alongside a fix for double spawns. These changes improve Classic but don’t affect where you need to play to earn the Swamp skin.
The 0.8.5a hotfix stopped Pack-A-Punch from granting Classic boosts incorrectly. Version 0.8.5b fixed enemy perks being enabled in Classic, with the developer noting that the latest fixes are available in new servers. Our 0.8.5 weapons and hotfixes guide covers the full balance changes.
What should you do before the event finishes?
If you’re playing Defend The Train Halloween 2026 for the special Swamp skin, finish the new track alive before 27 November. You can also browse the Shop’s limited cosmetics and collect this year’s badges, but those aren’t extra steps in the Swamp challenge.
