Deadlock Corrupted Items are enhanced versions of Tier 3 and Tier 4 shop items introduced with City Never Sleeps. In Standard matches, the limited-time Broker exchanges an eligible high-tier item you already own for its Corrupted version, while Street Brawl separately awards a Corrupted Item after the Round 5 item draft.
The power of Deadlock Corrupted Items comes with a real trade-off. Their positive stats are stronger than the normal item, but every Corrupted version also receives a random negative attribute from a defined pool. The roll is shared across the match, so players in the same game see the same version.

How to get Deadlock Corrupted Items
There are two current routes to Deadlock Corrupted Items. In Standard, visit The Broker when his stock is active and exchange an eligible Tier 3 or Tier 4 item. His first shipment appears around 30 minutes and later opportunities arrive about every 15 minutes.
Street Brawl has a separate rule: Round 5 grants a Corrupted Item after the item draft. That route matters once The Broker leaves the limited City Never Sleeps event.
How many Corrupted Items are there?
Current game data contains 90 Deadlock Corrupted Items: 30 Weapon items, 31 Vitality items and 29 Spirit items. Only Tier 3 and Tier 4 items participate in the system.
The normal item determines the stronger positive effect, while the match-specific corruption adds the downside.

Are the drawbacks random for every player?
No. Deadlock Corrupted Items use a random match roll rather than a separate personal roll for each player. Valve says the positive and negative values are the same for all players within a given game.
This means teammates can call out a particularly good or bad Corrupted version and everyone can make decisions using the same information.
Can a Corrupted Item be worse than the normal version?
It can be worse for a specific build even though Deadlock Corrupted Items increase the item’s headline power. A Weapon item with a severe Weapon Damage penalty or a Spirit-focused item with lost Spirit Power can be a poor exchange on the wrong hero.
Look at the total build impact, not only the larger green numbers. Corruption is designed to create unusually strong items with meaningful costs.
Do Corrupted Items cost Souls?
Valve’s public City Never Sleeps page describes Deadlock Corrupted Items as exchanges of high-tier gear and does not publish a universal separate Soul price table for the swap.
The requirement you can rely on is that the normal eligible item must already be in your build. Check the live Broker interface before making the exchange rather than budgeting around an unofficial fixed Soul cost.
How long are Corrupted Items available?
The Broker route for Deadlock Corrupted Items is temporary and ends when the first City Never Sleeps hero releases on October 2. Street Brawl’s Round 5 Corrupted Item rule is listed separately in the update notes.
That distinction matters if you enter Standard after the first hero is live and cannot find the Broker stalls. The system has not necessarily vanished from every Deadlock mode.
Best way to evaluate a Corrupted Item
Before taking one of the Deadlock Corrupted Items, compare the normal item against the Corrupted positive change, then ask whether the drawback attacks a core stat for your hero.
A build with spare stamina may tolerate a Stamina penalty better than a mobility-heavy setup. A tank can sometimes absorb a damage penalty more safely than a carry, while a Spirit hero may reject a large Spirit Power loss even if the item’s active effect becomes much stronger.
Corrupted Items summary
Deadlock Corrupted Items cover 90 Tier 3 and Tier 4 items and trade much stronger positive effects for one random drawback. Standard players obtain them from The Broker while his event is active, and Street Brawl provides another Corrupted Item route in Round 5.
Read the entire tooltip before committing. The match-wide roll makes every game different, and the strongest possible item on paper can still be the wrong corruption for your build.
