ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury is the Giga’s new passive combat buff in ARK: Survival Ascended’s v97 TLC update. It starts when a Giga drops below 75% health, grows stronger as its health falls and helps nearby allied creatures too. The maximum bonuses are 50% extra damage and 30% damage resistance.
Wounded Fury isn’t the same thing as Enrage. One builds as the Giga loses health; the other can throw you off your mount if you don’t respond to the Rage bar. That difference matters once you get into a serious fight.
ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury: health and damage bonuses

At 75% health or above, the passive hasn’t kicked in. Below that, the Giga’s damage and resistance increase as its health falls. You’ll also see and hear the effect becoming more intense, so you don’t have to rely entirely on the health bar.
| Condition | Wounded Fury effect |
|---|---|
| 75% health or more | Passive has not activated |
| Below 75% health | Damage and resistance bonuses begin and scale as health falls |
| Maximum strength | Up to +50% damage and +30% damage resistance |
| While Enraged | Full Wounded Fury bonus is maintained |
How the ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury ally buff works
Nearby allied creatures, other than Gigas, receive half of the Giga’s current Wounded Fury bonuses. That does not mean every creature around it gets 50% extra damage. If the Giga’s bonus is still building, its allies get a smaller bonus too.
When the Giga reaches its maximum of +50% damage and +30% resistance, eligible allies get up to +25% and +15% respectively. You can toggle a rider display to see which creatures are receiving the buff, so there’s no need to guess who is close enough.
Other Gigas do not receive this support bonus. You can’t stack a line of Gigas and expect them to share it with each other.
ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury during Enrage
During Enrage, ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury stays at maximum strength. That’s a powerful bonus, but Enrage still carries the risk of losing the rider. The new Regain Control window is your chance to stop that happening.
The v97 update gives riders a visible Rage bar and shows the buildup to other players too. Several hits arriving at once, such as shotgun pellets, no longer cause instant Enrage. You have a warning before things go wrong.
How to use the Regain Control window
When the Rage bar fills, you get a short Regain Control window. Land attacks during it to reduce Rage and potentially cancel Enrage. Fail, and you’re dismounted as Enrage takes hold.
The ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury damage buff won’t protect you from the dismount. Watch the Rage bar and be ready to land attacks when the window opens. Wildcard hasn’t published a fixed recovery hit count or timer.
Heavy Stomp versus Tail Slam
The Giga’s new area attack changes with the direction you’re looking. Face forwards or sideways for Heavy Stomp; look behind you for Tail Slam. Both knock smaller creatures back and briefly slow targets.
The patch notes give the attack directions, but not a platform-by-platform control list or exact radius. Check your current bindings instead of relying on a button shown in an older guide.
Does Wounded Fury change the new Giga tame?
ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury describes its combat buff, not the new wild taming method. To tame a wild Giga, you now need an Apex Offering made with Alpha trophies and must clear the 50% Torpidity cap by enduring its Enrage phase.
Our ARK Apex Offering guide explains that process. The v97 patch notes cover the broader changes. Don’t mix up the wild taming Enrage requirement with the Regain Control system for riders; they’re different parts of the same TLC.
In battle, keep an eye on health, use the ally indicator and react to the Rage warning. ARK Giganotosaurus Wounded Fury can make your Giga and its allies much stronger, but an Enrage dismount can still turn a good fight into a disaster.
