Fisch Baby Nessie is the companion reward for completing the Headless Horseman’s three Halloween quests. It raises FischFright mutation chances and provides a fishing progress-speed boost affected by fish size and resilience, with stronger passives at night.
You unlock this companion by rescuing Baby Nessie from the Haunted Chapel, landing five consecutive mutated fish during the chapel’s flickers and showing Plush, Ghoul and Zombie Nessie to the Horseman. It’s the 2026 companion, not the older Baby Nessie fish from a previous event.

Where Baby Nessie comes from
The Baby Nessie companion comes from the Headless Horseman’s three-stage questline on Caustic Hallow in FischFright 3. Speak to the Flying Dutchman near Moosewood docks to reach the event island, then travel past the Ritual site to the chapel gate. Talk to the Horseman there. Unlike a normal fish, the companion isn’t something you catch in the Chapel Pool and keep in your fish inventory.
Quest 1: rescue Baby Nessie
Enter the chapel, approach the little Nessie and interact to pick it up. Carry it towards the outside door while the lights are steady. Stop moving when lightning causes them to flicker. If you move during a flicker, Baby Nessie runs back into hiding and you’ll have to retrieve it again. Complete this stop-and-go challenge to unlock the next stage.

Quest 2: stabilize the chapel
The second mission asks you to land five consecutive fish with a FischFright mutation from the Chapel Pool while the lights flicker. A rod that helps with event mutations, such as the Eldritch Rod, can improve your chances, but you still need precise landing timing. Nonmutated fish or catches outside the light window can reset the sequence.
Quest 3: demonstrate Nessie expertise
| Nessie | Preferred bait | Weather and time |
|---|---|---|
| Plush Nessie | Sour Jelly Candy | Any, Autumn |
| Ghoul Nessie | Sour Jelly Candy | Jack-o-Moon, night, Autumn |
| Zombie Nessie | Black Licorice | Jack-o-Moon, night, Autumn |
For the final task, show the Horseman Plush Nessie, Ghoul Nessie and Zombie Nessie. Collect them from their separate Halloween reward and ritual methods, keeping the required versions in your inventory. Once the chapel is stabilized, the Horseman moves inside for this step. Players who collected the correct fish earlier can show those rather than catching fresh copies.
Baby Nessie’s mutation bonus
The official update says Baby Nessie increases FischFright mutation chances. That makes it relevant during the Halloween event, especially when you’re fishing for mutated catches. The developer doesn’t give one universal numerical bonus covering every rod and circumstance in its summary, so it wouldn’t be accurate to promise an exact permanent mutation percentage.
Fisch Baby Nessie fishing progress bonuses
Baby Nessie also provides dynamic fishing progress speed. The developer says the effect scales inversely with fish size and directly with resilience: smaller fish and higher-resilience catches receive a bigger benefit under that relationship. Its passives strengthen during nighttime hours and are dampened slightly during the day. This is a situational bonus, not a single fixed progress speed applying to every fish.
Equipping and changing the companion
Once all three Horseman objectives are complete, open your Satchel and equip Baby Nessie as your companion. The quest’s required Nessie fish aren’t themselves the companion; they’re items shown to the NPC to finish the unlock. The event also rewards Baby Plush, Baby Ghoul and Baby Zombie Nessie skins, with extra styles associated with showing special Shiny or Skeletal Nessie variants.
Is Baby Nessie limited-time?
Baby Nessie arrived with the October 24, 2026 Headless Horseman update as part of FischFright 3. The Roblox event listing currently runs through November 9 at 17:00 UTC, though in-game timing should take priority if dates change. Don’t confuse the new companion with the older Baby Nessie fish or the previous year’s Jack-o-Blazer quest reward. Those older instructions describe separate event content.
Fisch Baby Nessie provides a reason to finish the event even after collecting the three required variants. The companion’s dynamic progress-speed bonus applies during fishing outside the chapel too, and becomes stronger at night. For Fisch Baby Nessie, the published passive description does not promise a fixed percentage on every catch.
Equip the companion through the Satchel after finishing the final Horseman dialogue. The nighttime boost and the fish-size/resilience scaling are distinct from its FischFright mutation chance.
