Fisch Rescue Run is the first Headless Horseman quest in FischFright 3. Pick up Baby Nessie inside the Haunted Chapel on Caustic Hallow and carry it outside, stopping every time lightning makes the lights flicker.
The rescue can be frustrating if you try to sprint through it. Moving during a flicker sends Baby Nessie back into hiding, so the best route is to move in short bursts while the lights are steady. Here’s how to find the chapel, finish the run and move on to the other Horseman quests.

Location of the chapel
Speak to the Flying Dutchman near Moosewood docks for transport to Caustic Hallow. From Pumpkin King, turn right towards the river, cross it to the Ritual site and climb behind the ritual area towards the cliff and chapel. You’ll find the Horseman at the chapel gate, approximately -15176.6, 167.1, -9623.5, beside the Haunted Cemetery. This is not the Haunted House minigame. Start by talking to the Horseman, or the rescue interaction may not be active.
Picking up Baby Nessie for Fisch Rescue Run
Enter the chapel and look for the small green Baby Nessie moving inside. Walk over, interact and carry it towards the exit. You don’t need a rod or bait for the rescue. Carrying Baby Nessie through the doorway is the whole objective.

Fisch Rescue Run movement timing
Lightning makes the chapel lights flicker. Stop moving whenever a flicker begins and wait until the lighting becomes steady. Move towards the door while lights are normal, then freeze again when they start flashing. Treat it as a stop-and-go challenge. Moving during a flicker frightens Baby Nessie and sends it back into hiding, which means you’ll have to pick it up again.
A safe route through the chapel
During Fisch Rescue Run, walk in short bursts between flashes. On PC, let go of the movement keys as soon as the lights flicker; on mobile, lift your thumb from the movement control. Resume once the room is steady and repeat until you reach the doorway.
Why Fisch Rescue Run keeps resetting
If Fisch Rescue Run fails and Baby Nessie disappears, return to its hiding place and collect it again. A brief movement during the flash is enough to send it back. If you cannot pick it up, check that you started the Horseman dialogue at the gate and have the first quest selected. Don’t mistake the Chapel Pool fishing challenge for this stage; that’s the second mission and uses the opposite timing rule.
What happens after Fisch Rescue Run?
The next Horseman quest is Stabilizing the Chapel. Catch five consecutive FischFright-mutated fish in the Chapel Pool, with each catch landing while lights flicker. After that comes Nessie Expertise: show Plush, Ghoul and Zombie Nessie to the Horseman, who moves inside the chapel. The eventual prize is a Baby Nessie companion with FischFright mutation odds and variable progress-speed bonuses.
Preparing for the final objective
You can collect the three Nessie fish while doing other Halloween activities. Check the existing Plush Nessie, Ghoul Nessie and Zombie Nessie walkthroughs to see their separate reward and ritual routes. The Haunted Cemetery guide is also helpful for unlocking the area associated with Zombie Nessie. If the companion is your goal, keep the three required fish available until you have shown them to the Horseman.
Deadline and older Horseman guides
The 2026 Horseman content arrived October 24 during FischFright 3, which is currently listed through November 9, 2026 at 17:00 UTC. Check the in-game event timer before leaving anything to the last minute. Earlier Headless Horseman guides may talk about Jack-o-Blazer from 2025; that isn’t the reward from the 2026 Rescue Run questline.
Remember that the two chapel stages use opposite light-timing rules: stop moving during lightning for Rescue Run, but finish reeling during lightning when the Horseman later asks for five mutated fish. The later fishing task isn’t required to finish the initial rescue.
Guides for the next two Horseman quests
Our Caustic Hallow map helps with the island route, and the Eldritch Rod guide covers a weapon that can give fish an event mutation for stage two. For the final objective you’ll need Plush Nessie, Ghoul Nessie and Zombie Nessie. The Haunted Cemetery, rituals and quest order guides cover the associated requirements.
