Escape from Tarkov TarCoin: How to Get It and What to Spend It On

Escape from Tarkov official art

Tarkov TarCoin is the currency used in Escape from Tarkov’s Expansions Hub. You can find TarCoins during raids, buy them through official storefronts, earn them through PvE Prestige or collect them as an EXFIL Brothers Operator. Once you’ve built up a balance, you can spend it on apparel, additional stash space and other offers in the Hub.

The October 6 update made TarCoin more useful to players who would rather earn currency than pay for it. There are now two more progression routes, but the original raid method still works. Here’s how each one works, what you can actually buy and what happens to the currency when a PvE character Prestiges.

There are four confirmed acquisition routes for Tarkov TarCoin: finding the physical currency in a raid and extracting with it, purchasing a currency pack, receiving it for PvE Prestige, and earning it as an EXFIL Brothers Operator. The first two were available when the Expansions Hub launched in July 2026; the Prestige and referral options arrived with patch 1.2.0.0.

TarCoins aren’t the same as roubles or dollars. Battlestate uses them exclusively for purchases in the Expansions Hub, which has its own balance and catalogue. You can’t assume an item bought with roubles at a trader can also be bought with TarCoins.

How to find TarCoins in Escape from Tarkov raids

Battlestate confirmed when it launched the Expansions Hub that TarCoins can be found during normal raids. You need to extract successfully with the coins you collect. After extraction, they’re automatically converted into your account’s TarCoin balance; you don’t have to spend that physical stack at a trader.

The official announcement doesn’t promise a fixed TarCoin amount per raid or a guaranteed spawn in a particular room. If you’re trying to earn Tarkov TarCoin without spending money, watch for it while looting and prioritise surviving the raid. Dying before extraction won’t satisfy the conversion requirement stated by Battlestate.

How to get Tarkov TarCoin from PvE Prestige

Patch 1.2.0.0 adds six PvE Prestige levels, with TarCoins awarded through that progression. Prestige is voluntary and resets your PvE Zone character after you’ve met the next level’s requirements. Those requirements can include your level, quests, Hideout construction, skills, money and stash items.

Tarkov TarCoin earned from PvE Prestige belongs to Battlestate’s list of rewards usable across game modes. It isn’t simply a loose item left behind in the character’s stash. If you’re already considering a Prestige reset, check the amount displayed for your next level; don’t wipe months of quest and Hideout progress just to chase an unspecified sum. Read our PvE Prestige requirements guide before confirming.

How to earn Tarkov TarCoin through EXFIL Brothers

An EXFIL Brothers Operator can earn up to 1,200 TarCoins per Candidate as that new player progresses through the referral programme. The Operator needs a Battlestate account more than seven days old and a level 30 character in an Escape from Tarkov mode. The Candidate’s account must be younger than seven days when the referral is confirmed.

Operators can invite up to five Candidates, but a successful invitation isn’t an instant payout of 1,200 TarCoins. The maximum depends on the Candidate’s subsequent progress. If you’re bringing a new friend into the game, follow the EXFIL Brothers referral steps before the new-account window closes.

Can you buy TarCoins with real money?

Yes. Battlestate sells TarCoin packs through the Expansions Hub, its website and Steam. Steam’s TarCoin products were released on July 8, 2026, well before the Prestige changes. There’s also an official one-time special offer advertised as 2,000 TarCoins, made up of 1,000 coins and a 1,000-coin bonus.

The special pack can only be purchased once per game account. Steam purchases may take a short time to appear in the balance, according to Battlestate’s Expansions Hub FAQ. Check the store you’re using for its current price and included quantity rather than assuming offers are identical in every region.

What can you spend Tarkov TarCoin on?

The Expansions Hub offers PMC clothing, extra stash lines, PvE upgrades and voice packs, with some products also available on Battlestate’s website. It also has clothing bundles and discounted bundles of stash lines. The Steam TarCoin listing highlights PMC apparel, stash expansions and seasonal bundles among its uses.

Some outfit bundles are discounted to account for pieces you already own, while certain named bundles keep a fixed price. Stash-line bundles won’t appear if purchasing them would take you beyond the allowed maximum stash size. Open the in-game Hub and compare the individual pieces against bundled offers before spending your Tarkov TarCoin.

Does PvE Prestige reset your TarCoin balance?

TarCoins are explicitly listed among the PvE Prestige rewards available across modes. Battlestate separates those account-level unlocks from the ordinary character progress you reset. The official patch notes don’t say that using Prestige deletes an earned TarCoin balance.

The item you find in a raid and the currency in your account balance are different stages of the process. Once you’ve extracted and the coins have been converted, the balance is what you spend in the Expansions Hub. Tarkov TarCoin is therefore worth collecting even if you’re planning a future PvE Prestige reset.
