Fortnite Performance Evaluation is Epic Games’ high-level test tournament for the latest Fortnite update, with October sessions beginning on October 1, 2026. Entry is far more restricted than a normal Ranked Cup because players need either FNCS Division 1 status or a place inside the top 5,000 of the overall Fortnite Power Rankings leaderboard.
Fortnite Performance Evaluation is not simply another cash cup with a different name. Epic says the event is being used to test tournament systems and game performance at the highest level of competition, which is why the live event page even warns that competitors may experience periods of lower performance while data is collected.
Fortnite Performance Evaluation eligibility requirements

The current Battle Royale event listing gives two competitive routes into the tournament. You need to be in FNCS Division 1 or ranked inside the top 5,000 overall on Epic’s Power Rankings leaderboard.
- FNCS Division 1 status, or a top 5,000 overall Power Ranking position.
- At least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required in your country.
- Multi-Factor Authentication enabled on the Epic account.
- An eligible account that can access the correct event tile in the Compete tab.
- The correct team size for the Performance Evaluation variant you are entering.
Power Ranking position is not the same as Battle Royale Ranked tier. A player can be Unreal without sitting inside the top 5,000 PR positions, so check the public Power Rankings leaderboard rather than assuming Ranked status is enough.
Fortnite Performance Evaluation schedule
October Performance Evaluation sessions begin on October 1 and continue through the month. Exact dates and start times vary by region and by the event variant shown in Fortnite, so Epic directs players to the live event page and in-game Compete tab for final times.
Europe currently lists its next October Performance Evaluation Round 1 session on October 1, while North America Central also moves into its October schedule on the same date. Do not copy a start time from another matchmaking region, because the queue window can be different.
Fortnite Performance Evaluation format
The main current Battle Royale Fortnite Performance Evaluation uses a multi-round format. Epic’s live listing says the event runs over two rounds, with the highest-placing teams from Round 1 moving into Round 2.
One complication is that Epic currently has more than one Performance Evaluation listing. The standard current listing is shown as Duos in some regions, while a separate Performance Evaluation Trios listing is also live. Advancement numbers can differ between those variants, so use the cut-off shown on the exact event tile you enter.
| Current listing | Team size | Round 1 advancement |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Evaluation | Duos | Current listings show the top 50 teams advancing |
| Performance Evaluation Trios | Trios | Current listings show the top 33 teams advancing |
That distinction matters because older Performance Evaluation rules and previous-season pages are still searchable. A historical scoring table is not a reliable guide to the October 2026 event.
How the Fortnite Performance Evaluation prizes work
Epic confirms cash prizes for the current Fortnite Performance Evaluation. Under the current Chapter 7 Battle Royale rules, teams earn $800 for each Victory Royale in Round 2, split evenly between the two players on the Duo team.
Prize rules can differ for another Performance Evaluation variant, including Trios or Reload. If your event tile is not the standard Battle Royale Duos version, open the event-specific rules before treating the Duo prize structure as universal.
Why Epic is running Performance Evaluation
Fortnite Performance Evaluation is explicitly a test event. Epic says it is gathering tournament-system and game-performance data from experienced players competing on the latest update.
That explains the unusually strict entry requirement. Limiting the field to FNCS Division 1 competitors and the top 5,000 in Power Rankings gives Epic a concentrated group of tournament players pushing the build under competitive conditions.
Epic also warns that moments of low performance can happen while data is being collected. That is unusual wording for a normal tournament and makes the testing purpose especially clear.
How to enter Fortnite Performance Evaluation
- Check that your Epic account has MFA enabled.
- Confirm you are FNCS Division 1 or inside the top 5,000 overall Power Rankings.
- Open Fortnite and go to the Compete tab.
- Find the correct Performance Evaluation tile for your mode and region.
- Check the team size, Round 1 start time and eligibility shown on that tile.
- Party with the required teammate or teammates before the session begins.
- Queue during the listed session window.
If Fortnite Performance Evaluation is locked even though you believe you qualify, check the current Power Rankings position first. Epic updates that leaderboard weekly, so a previous top 5,000 position does not guarantee you remain inside the cut-off when the session opens.
Does Performance Evaluation count for Power Ranking?
Performance Evaluation is part of Fortnite’s official competitive ecosystem, but the safest way to check current PR treatment is Epic’s live Power Rankings event-weight table. Event weights and qualification systems can change between seasons, so avoid relying on an old third-party value.
Our Fortnite Power Rankings Leaderboard guide explains how the ranking works and why one tournament result does not always cause an immediate visible movement. The public leaderboard updates weekly rather than after every match.
What to check before October 1
Fortnite Performance Evaluation is aimed at a small part of the competitive player base, so most players will not see an eligible queue. If you are trying to enter, confirm your FNCS Division or top 5,000 PR status before the session begins.
Also check whether your tile says Duos or Trios. Epic currently has both variants live, and turning up with the wrong party size is an avoidable way to lose the session before it starts.
