The important bit is where you can play them. All eight are listed for cloud and console, but only Halo: Spartan Assault is listed for PC. These are scheduled Essential additions for 15 November, so seeing a game in Ultimate today doesn’t mean it’s already available on Essential.

Halo: Spartan Assault is the exception in the platform column, because Microsoft includes PC alongside cloud and console. All the others are listed just for cloud and console. That doesn’t mean they have no PC edition anywhere; it means the Essential announcement doesn’t promise one.
Can you download the Xbox Game Pass Essential November 2026 classics on PC?
For this Essential batch, Halo: Spartan Assault is the only game Xbox lists for PC. Cloud play isn’t the same as a native Windows download, so don’t assume you can install Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark or Viva Piñata on a laptop simply because you can stream them on a supported device.

Which of the eight classics should you play first?
Start with Banjo-Kazooie if you want a classic collectathon, then move on to Banjo-Tooie for bigger areas. Nuts & Bolts is very different, built around creating vehicles. If you’d rather play a shooter, Perfect Dark is the Rare FPS, while Gears of War: Judgment delivers more intense combat.
The two Viva Piñata games are a gentler choice, with gardens to build and colourful creatures to attract. Halo: Spartan Assault is an overhead action spin-off. Microsoft shortens Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise to Viva Piñata: TIP; they are the same title.
Does Xbox Game Pass Essential November 2026 give you permanent copies?
No. Xbox Game Pass Essential November 2026 gives you access through your membership, not a permanent copy to keep. If you cancel or the game leaves Game Pass later, you’ll need to own a compatible copy to continue playing. Microsoft lists the current catalogue and eligibility in the Xbox app.
Banjo-Kazooie also appears on Nintendo platforms, but Nintendo’s subscriptions aren’t linked to Xbox Game Pass. An Xbox entitlement doesn’t transfer to Nintendo Switch, and these additions aren’t an announcement of a remake or new release. They are eight existing games getting another way to play.
