BTD6 Round 98 sends 30 Fortified BFBs and eight ZOMGs. The huge amount of blimp health is the first problem; then come the MOABs and Super Ceramics released as those shells break.
A 0-0-4 Shattering Shells Mortar strips Fortified from BFBs it hits, making the rush less punishing. It does not remove the ZOMGs’ health, though, and it cannot replace the damage needed to break the blimps and finish their contents.
How to beat BTD6 Round 98
For BTD6 Round 98, begin with strong, consistent damage against MOAB-class targets. Your main towers need enough range and attack time to work through several blimps at once. If the first BFBs and ZOMGs reach halfway through the map almost untouched, the problem is sustained blimp damage, not Camo detection.
High-pierce damage matters because several blimps can overlap. An attack that damages groups or repeatedly hits large targets can do more work than a slow shot that focuses on just one bloon. Place your most important damage near long track sections rather than relying on a short firing window beside the exit.
Do not neglect cleanup for BTD6 Round 98. Each BFB splits into four MOABs; each ZOMG releases four BFBs, and those BFBs release more MOABs. By Round 98, their Ceramic children are Super Ceramics with 60 health, so weak cleanup can be overrun. If your defence opens the outer shells but cannot finish what appears underneath, the track can become packed with smaller targets.

Does Shattering Shells help on Round 98?
Yes. A Mortar Monkey with Shattering Shells can strip the Fortified property from BFBs it hits, making those targets easier for the rest of your defence to finish. Set the Mortar’s target where the group of Fortified BFBs passes through, and make sure its explosions actually connect.
There is an important limit on BTD6 Round 98: Shattering Shells does not strip Fortified from ZOMGs or BADs. The eight ZOMGs here are ordinary ZOMGs, and you still need to break their shells with damage. You still need genuine blimp damage for the larger shells and the bloons they release.
Shattering Shells is support, not an automatic win. If you spend too much on Fortified stripping and leave too little money for damage, the rush can still overwhelm you. Use it to improve a capable defence rather than expecting the Mortar to replace the rest of the build.
Why the blimp contents are so dangerous
The toughest part of BTD6 Round 98 can be the wave left behind after the big shells break. Several BFBs can release multiple MOABs in a short space, and the resulting Ceramic cleanup puts heavy pressure on towers that were focused on blimps.
Watch where the screen gets crowded during a failed attempt. If intact ZOMGs escape, invest in better sustained damage against the largest targets. If the shells burst but a cloud of smaller bloons escapes, improve high-pierce cleanup and control rather than buying another single-target attack.
When BTD6 Round 98 goes wrong late, you may need to change where the damage happens. Breaking a blimp near the exit leaves no room to finish its contents. Stronger or earlier damage against the outer shells gives your cleanup towers much more time to work.
Ability timing and Round 99 preparation
Slowing effects, stuns that work on the affected blimps and burst-damage abilities can buy time in the packed rush. However, firing every cooldown at the opening of BTD6 Round 98 can leave you unprepared for the next round. Round 99 contains fortified DDTs, which need Camo-compatible damage and can move much faster.
If Bloon Sabotage is part of your DDT plan, check whether you really need it here or can reserve it for the later threat. Ability timing depends on how long the round takes and when your defence finishes each group. There is no one button sequence that works on every map.
In CHIMPS, you cannot sell a tower to buy an emergency replacement. Make sure your support, Camo coverage and anti-BAD damage plan remain intact through Round 100. Winning one brutal round is not much help if the next two expose an entirely different gap.
BTD6 Round 98 FAQ
What Bloons are on Round 98?
The standard round has exactly 30 Fortified BFBs and eight ordinary ZOMGs.
Does Shattering Shells remove Fortified from the ZOMGs?
No. It can remove Fortified from BFBs, but not from ZOMG or BAD layers. You still need damage against the larger blimps.
Why does BTD6 Round 98 keep leaking after the shells pop?
Each blimp contains more bloons. The emerging MOABs and their Super Ceramic children can overwhelm slow cleanup towers, especially if the outer blimps break near the exit.
