Rick Boogs suffers legitimate injury at WrestleMania 38

WWE WrestleMania 38 Usos Shinsuke Nakamura Rick Boogs

The opening match of WrestleMania 38 saw The Usos retain their WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships against Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs, but it looks like that may not have been the plan.

Towards the end of the match, Rick Boogs picked one of The Usos up on his back, potentially going for a Samoan Drop or an Attitude Adjustment style move.

The other Uso then jumped on his back too which caused Boog’s legs to buckle and he fell to the mat.

It was unclear whether this was a planned spot or not, but now it appears that it was a legitimate botch that led to an injury.

Dave Meltzer has reported that the early diagnosis of the injury is a quad tear, which could cause Rick Boogs to be out of action for up to a year.

Fans in attendance also posted pictures and videos of Rick Boogs being carried out, showing that the injury is legitimate, with Bryan Alverez confirming it and that the finish of the match had to be changed on the fly.

This means that it is possible that Nakamura and Boogs were set to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship, but with Boogs’ injury, it led to The Usos retaining.
