Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 will end in a month, with Season 6 due to launch on March 16th. But that means there’s still time for another couple of updates, including the Fortnite 15.40 update.

There’s been a pretty consistent flow of new content in the form of cosmetics, weekly challenges, and limited-time events, with the Hearts Wild Valentine’s Day event taking place at the minute.

Here is everything you need to know about the 15.40 update.

Latest – Fortnite 15.40 Update Coming Tomorrow

In a separate tweet, Epic Games gave some more information about what to expect from the Fortnite 15.40 update saying,

Patch Notes

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Epic Games drop anything remotely resembling Patch Notes for Fortnite.

It’s a shame, but whether this is due to the scope of what they might entail or out of secrecy… It is what it is.

Instead of this, we have to rely on industry insiders and Epic Games Creators who do get some form of Patch Notes. Somehow.

Currently there isn’t anything available regarding this; Epic Games Creators only get these on the day-of the update.

Flint-Knock Pistol Returning

Many players are speculating as to which weapon will be unvaulted, to us it seems like the Flint-Knock Pistol is the gun that Epic Games is describing.

In both the original tweet and the tweet outlining what to expect, the weapon is hinted at. The first tweet says “Knock knock”, while the second one says “Blast back with an unvaulted favorite!”

When players use the Flint-Knock Pistol they get knocked back, or blasted back, and is the only weapon to do so, except the Exotic Double Barrel Shotgun, but that is already in the game. Speaking of Exotics.

More Exotic Weapons

It now looks like NPCs will carry either 2, 3, or 4 Exotic weapons for players to purchase. Quite often when playing team-based modes, players have to decide who will get which Exotic, now everyone can enjoy them, this is going to make things so broken.

LTMs Return

It has also been announced that both Air Royale and Floor Is Lava will be returning in the next update.

Air Royale is an air combat mode, which has teams of players in planes with the task of shooting down their opponents, this is one of the best LTMs in the game.

And the Floor Is Lava is incredibly fun, with the entire ground of the Fortnite map becoming lava over time, meaning players can only move by placing builds.

Performance Mode Fixed

Performance mode is designed for lower end PCs to still be able to get high frames by decreasing the visual quality of the game.

Following the 15.30 update, many players complained that the builds in the game had been replaced with mobile graphics, meaning that players can no longer see through them, which is a tactic used often in competitive player. It now appears that Epic Games is reverting the changes made in the previous update.

Leaks, Rumours & More

There’s always rumours and leaks when you look at Fortnite. That’s a fact of life at this point.

Some of them are more outrageous than others, but one that has been gaining traction is Mounted Weapons.

VasttBlast, notable leaker, has suggested that Epic is working on vehicle-mounted weaponry.

His evidence? Well, he found the following values in the game’s code…

This could just be something that affects Creative Mode, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to picture in the standard Fortnite game modes and lobbies.
