Stranger Things season 4 is one of the most anticipated Netflix shows ever. The sci-fi/horror series has accumulated a heavy following over the last 3 seasons and the next season promises to be even bigger.

In 2019 the Duffer brothers gave us a summer release date, so it is only natural to be wondering where the next season is up to now. The popular Netflix show has been in production for quite some time now. We are excited about what Stranger Things season 4 has in store for us.

Here is what we know so fare about Stranger Things season 4.

Release date.

In way of release dates, there hasn’t been any official movement as of yet, however, Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) teased a 2022 release date in an online meet-and-greet on Fanmio. Although, this may seem disappointing to some fans as it feels far away it is understandable that production was probably halted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wolfhard co-star, Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), had other things to say about the Stranger Things season 4 release date. Schnapp mentioned that season 4 could be coming out in the summer, although his comments were promptly deleted.

David Harbour (Jim Hopper) also revealed that filming would be ending in August, which is along the same lines as Noah Schnapp’s premature comments.

The Duffer brothers also informed The Hollywood Reporter that Stranger Things season 4 will not be the end, nonetheless, it is in sight.

Story and Theme.

***SPOILER WARNING GOING AHEAD***

Netflix released a teaser for Stranger Things season 4 in February of this year.  The Valentine’s Day gift gave us all a shock when the reappearance of the beloved character Jim hopper appeared in a snowy communist Russia. Indeed, David Harbour’s character is still alive!

Officially we do not know much about the plot yet, however, many of the actors have indicated a darker, grittier and scarier season than ever before. A huge change from season 3’s more fun and comedic 80’s theme. The Black Widow star, David Harbour, also mentioned that his character arc is inspired by films such as Alien 3 and The Great Escape.

What we do know for certain is that the Duffer brothers have completed the writing of Stranger Things season 4. The Covid-19 pandemic halted filming and allowed the writing dup to complete this season’s script and story before filming restarted in September.

In the tweet above it appears that there will be 8 episodes and it was then confirmed we would be getting 9, similar to what we had in season 2.

In another teaser (see above) released in May, we should expect to see more of Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) back story. The Duffer brother’s season 4 should also resolve some unanswered questions from season 3.

Joseph Quinn is the main new face we will be seeing in season 4 as he plays Eddie Munson who runs The Hellfire Club (episode 1 has the same name), Hawkins high’s D&D club. This season will also have a few new faces along with returning characters.

That’s all we know so far from our beloved crew of meddling kids. Hopefully, more news will be out soon or even the whole season.
