After a massive 19 Seasons starring in the hit US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is preparing to say goodbye to one of the only remaining original Characters – Meredith Grey!
Since appearing in the first episode in 2005, actress Ellen Pompeo has won the heart of every Grey’s Anatomy fan as one of the most loving and caring cast members, as well as enduring more than her fair share of dramas, from a plane crash to drowning, being stabbed.. you name it, she’s been through it! And of course, the moment we will all remember most is the loss of the love of her life and Husband, McDreamy, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
But all good things must come to an end. Let’s take a look at how we can watch her farewell episode and say goodbye to Meredith Grey, sob.

As the final original intern left in the show, Meredith Grey has grown from strength to strength, from the rabbit in the headlights character beginning her surgical career, to an incredibly strong, top-class surgeon. If you were ever in a medical emergency, you’d want a Meredith Grey in your corner!
The now 53-year-old actress is leaving in a way that would allow her to return, however, she is currently focused on not only starring in but producing her new series.
“Preparing the new series has been exciting. Working on something different. I really want to keep doing it. Doing miniseries and not being committed to anything”.

Grey’s Anatomy – Ellen Pompeo – The Final Episode
The episode, titled I’ll Follow the Sun, will follow Meredith as she moves to Boston to research Alzheimer’s alongside Jackson Avery.
With many references to Derek and Christina set to be featured, fans should have the tissues at the ready.
It also notes that Nick (Scott Speedman) confronts her about the future of their relationship, and how they can make things work long-term and at a distance, will the relationship survive?
But as we know it isn’t a final farewell, just a temporary goodbye. The character’s means of departure means she can return. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ellen Pompeo told fans:
“For the record, it’s not really my final, It’s a little bit of a trick they’re playing on people.”
The episode will be available to view on Thursday 23rd February 2022, at 9 pm on ABC, and for everyone who can’t view it at the time, the streaming service Hulu will be airing the episode the following day.
